    Florida Free bottles, North Florida

I've got at least 100 more than I can use, four copy paper boxes worth. They are primarily Sam Adams but there are a few Sierra Nevada bottles. I'll even toss in a wood crate from the HBT DIY thread. I'm near Gainesville FL on 441.

    Heads up: DS18B20 LM34 LM35 Probe

About a month or so ago I inquired with Auber Instruments about making a DS18B20 probe for use with Arduino and other uC's and they obliged. It uses the same style QD cable as the pt100 probes making clean up easy if you have to pack away your gear after brewing like I do...

Kettle Dregs aka Waste Not, Want Not.

A few weekends ago I brewed a couple of AG batches. Been working on dialing in my system and getting good numbers for BeerSmith. After I filled the fermentors, I drained the trub & leftovers, chiller, hoses into some pitchers & cups so I could get a measurement. Made my notes & stuck it all in...

    When to add Amylase?

I'm BIAB brewing the Pottstown Common using shadows69 variation. There's 2# of flaked corn in the recipe so I thought it best to add some AE. Brew U says to add the AE to the mash, Beersmith says to add it when the yeast is pitched. Which would be best? Recipe: Yuengling Lager Clone 2.51 6#s...

Stupid cooler mash tun construction question.

I'm familiar with the bazooka screen & false bottoms folks use, is there some reason that you wouldn't use a voile bag? A pita to sparge? No advantage over a screen? Too easy to get a stuck sparge?

    Help locating a SS pot.

Trying to find a ~ 30 qt. stainless pot that has a lip (as opposed to straight sides) that measures 13.5" to the OD of the lip and 13" tall. Nothing fancy. If anyone has any leads, searching the web has been less than productive.

    My BIAB, RIMS, E-Brewery-In-A-Can

First, a note of thanks to all these members for sharing their ideas and inspiring me. Disintegr8or https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f170/how-build-5-gal-110v-ebiab-kettle-304914/ https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/my-first-post-simple-ebiab-homebrew-journey-288663/ Seven...

    Boil over, foamy boil question.

I E-brewed, the AG Centennial Blonde recipe posted elsewhere on HBT. I used 5 gal of bottled water just because it needed to be used and added 3.5 more gal. of moderately hard well water. I ended up with about 8.2 gal. after mash out. I expected boil over with 8 gal in an 11 gal. pot and stood...

My shamelessly cheap $12 DIY stir plate

Thanks to Flomaster and his thread I picked up a Thermatake USB desk fan from Amazon It's a 3" fan with a retracting USB power cord and a speed control. The first thing I did was take it apart. Removed the 4 screws and the little stand. I moved the screws around to serve as legs &...

Really cheap electric brewery control panel for those in OZ

I have no affiliation with the seller, just ran across the listing in a search. They have 5 of them available. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dual-PID-temperature-control-timer-and-contactor-panel-/110713710218?pt=AU_Barware&hash=item19c70d268a#ht_504wt_874

Anybody know if there are any manufacturer variations in corny keg dimensions?

I know Coke pin locks & Pepsi ball locks are different. I was wondering if there are any ball lock kegs that might be slightly smaller in diameter, I'm talking about an 1/8"-1/4" variation. Maybe one manufacturer to another? Or the single handle version vs. others.

How would the taste differ ale vs. lager using the same recipe?

I'm toying with the Yuengling like clone in Beersmith based on recipe research posted elsewhere on HBT. I was wondering what I could expect if I were to ferment it as an ale instead of a lager. I'm totally clueless when it comes to designing a beer and I'm just learning my way around Beermith...

Pretty decent deal on a stainless mash paddle

Was looking for a mash paddle, didn't really want wood for a number or reasons. Ran across this 30 in. stainless paddle on Amazon for $15.70. Don't know why it's the cheapest of the group but it appears pretty well made, not overly heavy.

Noob question, determining FG from an experiment.

This weekend I mixed up a Munton's Gold IPA kit. It makes 6 gallons so I dumped two gal in a Mr. Beer keg and the rest in a corny. I pitched US-05 in the corny and I pitched the Munton's kit yeast in the Mr. Beer. I also had a pack of Mr. Beer booster that was getting pretty tattered from...

    Howdy From N. Florida.

Just saying howdy from near Gainesville. You can blame Disintegr8or and chuckjaxfl for me being here and my in-laws for giving me a Mr. Beer which was the push I needed to dig a little deeper. I had given up on the idea of home brewing after being intimidated by all the fancy brewing set ups...

    My corny spunding valve build

ETA: The discussion started by WortMonger regarding using the spunding valve. My main interest is in using it to carbonate in the keg during fermentation. According to the Wiki pressure fermenting apparently reduces fusel alcohols and esters and hastens the fermentation and reduces the krausen...
