    Really bad notes, but recipe came from a thread about chocolate mead on this site (thread had nice picts of different kinds of chocolate mead in productions) 12 lbs of honey heated with 1/2 c cocoa to mix 2 tsp each nutrient and energizer 5tsp cream tartar 5 gallon carboy K1V1116 yeast...

    Bottled some chocolate mead today

    Will have to dig out the recipe but it had cocoa nibs in it. It looked like it might have mold on top (picts in another thread) but it was just foam.... Started out in large carboy then most of thr 2 years in small ones.

    Autumn honey means honey the bees made from autumn flowers. Ususally means a darker honey than say clover or basswood honey which is lighter in colour and taste. Let us know how it turns out

    So my neighbor is selling honey!!

    Beekeepers often end up with some higher moisture honey than cannt be sold or stored (it will ferrment on its own)at the end of the season when the bees have run out of time to dry it down before winter. It is perfect to make mead with. It would be worth asking if they have any.

    It is 2 years old, made with cocoa and cocoa nibs (cant rightly remember) Lovely colour, taste good!

    Brand new and have honey greater than 18.5% water

    We use our runny (over 18.) to make mead with no trouble. Try your brew your own store, they should have a few types to choose from.

    You could freeze the puree till needed, just bring back up to room temp!

    Regular lang.whatist. Means can easily run to the store to buy new supers, or to try comb honey boxes .... Everything is in pieces (cheaper) but all standard size. Being able to change boxes between hives is important as one will be stronger than the other and might need more supers. Or...

    Would like to bottle some 1 yr old mead as need the carboys How do you add the k metabisulphite to stabilize or do you, we have powder These are 1 gallon jugs that have been racked once so no fruit or anything just some lees at the bottom Thanks!

    Join a local club for great info. Ours is 15.00 a year and includes being able to borrow the exctractor well worth it. Definetly register your bees. The updates and info provided are well worth it and keep your bees healthier in the long run. New problems are coming all the time, small...

    My chocollate mead did this, was going to sterilize it When dragged it across floor white stuff disappeared Check out my thread if you can find it for picts, sorry dont know how to do a link.....didnt do anything to it... Thinking it Was just scummy bibb.es, has not come back....

    update went to slide the carboy across the floor.... "mold" disappared !!! it was all just scummy bubbles thanks everyone for all the replies- definetly learned some new things....didnt realise you should be adding sulphites when racking to the secondary
