    saison yeast evolution

So, I'm brewing a saison. Absolutely impressed with the yeast, crazy fermentation. Using WLP566, Belgian Saison II. So, does anyone know how this yeast evolved? Who started using this yeast, how long ago? I've read Farmhouse Ales, and the saison style has fascinated me. If this yeast evolved...

Lowering my FG with more sugar/honey

I brewed a 5 gallon batch of Centennial Blonde over a month ago. Hit my OG at 1.039, but my FG stalled out at 1.018, which is way too high. Target FG is 1.008. I use the Brew in a Bag technique, and tested w/ iodophor for conversion. Mashed at proper temps for 90 minutes. For some reason, I'm...

    Bloomington, Ind.

Hello, I'm going to be in Bloomington, Indiana all next week. Does anyone have any recommendations for bars/breweries/music? Upland Brewing looks promising... I'm really hoping to listen to some good live music and drink good beers. I'll be staying close to downtown. Any suggestions are appreciated!

need help deciding on kegerator path

I need some expert opinions! I would like to start kegging my homebrew. The main reason is that bottling takes up too much time. I barely have enough time to brew as it is, with a busy job and being with my family. But I'd much rather be brewing rather than spending time bottling. So... I've...

visual fermentation, three weeks into primary?

I brewed a recipe from Joy of Homebrewing, the Palace Bitter ale, three weeks ago. I used Safbrew S-33 dry yeast. OG was 1.050. This is an extract recipe, w/ 3 lb of Light Malt Extract Syrup and 2 lb of Light DME. The fermentation took off over the first few days, and then died down. I then...

    beer at farmer's markets

I was wondering if any states allow selling of beer at farmer's markets? I heard of a potential law that, I think, got shot down in MA that would have allowed wine/beer to be sold at the markets. I was thinking this would be cool for a nanobrewery or a farm that produces small batches, using...
