Mash paddle: Use for mash-in and boil kettle?

Got a cool, long wooden paddle I had intended on using for mash-in, but after last nights "Battle of the Boilover" with my shorter stainless spoon, I got to wondering if anyone uses their paddle as a stirrer in the boil kettle. I figure a quick rinse ought to do it. Thoughts?

Quick Aeration Wand project while you're waiting on your mash

I recently got a new aeration wand and was looking to get the most out of it. The hardest part would be to boil it to sterilize, then reassemble it (including the nylon washer) and not touch it with your hands, lest the oils clog the stone. So, I thought there had to be a better way than to...

Accidental GREEN Beer !!! Anyone else have this happen?

Ok, I did my second batch of a great, all grain cream ale. In preparation for a more 'fall' version, I chucked in 0.75 oz dried, sweet orange peel from the LHBS, and 1.25 oz hand crushed coriander in the last 10 mins of a 90 min boil. I transferred to the fermenter, and I noticed it looked...

    Thicker Floaties in bottles

Brewed a nice Belgian Tripel a few weeks back, and bottled in 22oz bottles about 10 days ago. Been sitting in a closet around 65-70 degrees since then. Looked through the 2 cases last night and most are crystal clear with a nice little yeast sediment at the bottom. A few, however, had a...
