    Sour honey, raspberry wheat.

So I brewed a wheat beer several months ago. It was 1.045 and it fermented too cold I think because it put off some terrible sulfur smell. It has dissipated after a couple months but still has a unpleasant smell. So I decided to add 1l of raw buckwheat honey and 4.5 lbs of raspberries to maybe...

First mead tomorrow! Many more to come

So I came into a large amount of raw honey. I'm going to start making a variety if different kinds of mead. For my first thought I would do a plain sweet mead. Got the Wyeast sweet mead yeast and made a 1.040 starter with some of the honey and added some nutrient. Omg my gravity sample tasted...

So I just added the dregs from a Hottenroth Berliner to my wheat beer that has been fermenting with brett lambicus. Can anyone confirm that the Hottenroth has live yeast?

Labeled and Waxed for the first time

Did a test run doing some labels and waxing the bottles. I used 2:1 Glue sticks to Crayons. Worked good, but they were kinda hard to open. Maybe more crayons next time.

So I hadn't planned to brew at all this weekend. I was just going to Dry Hop My Brett Trois fermented IPA. I had to run to the store to get the hops i needed and while there I decided maybe I should just brew something quick today that I could use the leftover Brett for. So I put this grain...

    Sour beer on a whim.

So my brett Trois IPA was ready to dry hop. Had to run to the brew store to get some minor items. While there I decided to brew another beer today to pitch on top of the brett Trois yeast cake. So I put this together real quick off the top of my head. So I got 8lbs marris otter, 1lb cara-wheat...

    Dinner was most excellent.

Soaked the cedar plank for 3 hrs in Apple cider. Marinated my Alaskan sockeye salmon fillet in honey, olive oil, garlic, dill and lemon juice. Grilled with asparagas with crumbled feta. Had a homebrew honey IPA while it was cooking and served with a Bancreagie Sour peated ale. Sent from my...

Did I really filter out all yeast before bottle conditioning?

So I brewed a IIpa. I used 1272 American Ale Yeast. Left in primary for 1 month. I racked to secondary to dry hop for 1 week. I used a fine mesh filter over the tip of my racking cane to keep out the dry hop particles when I transferred it to the bottling bucket. Its been over 3 weeks in...

    Harvested/Washed yeast more productive?

So my first two batches where I used yeast that I harvested, washed and then made a starter with have been very vigorous and the krausen is much larger than ever before. In the past I've used air locks and haven't had a problem well these ones I need a blow off tube because the krausen is so...

Thermowell ? in diy HD 10G Mash Tun?

So I got everything I needed today to make the 10G Home Depot Mash Tun. I want to be able to have a thermometer in it so I can read the temp without taking the lid off. I want to just use the thermometer I already own and be able to take it out to use it for other stuff. The digital thermometer...

    Hefeweizen took off like crazy

So i was awakened last night by what I thought was police sirens in the distance. Turns out it was just gas escaping from my airlock. I pitched 3068 into my Hefeweizen before I went to bed and then this morning it had a good 5 in krausen and the airlock is going nuts. haha...

    Surly Abrasive Clone

So my most recent brew I did was an attempt at a Surly Abrasive clone. I really like Abrasive and think it tastes great, not abrasive at all just pure tasty wonderfulness. So Surly lists on their website the ingredients they use, but not any percentages or other specifics. I used that info and...
