    Oatmeal Stout

I'm brewing an Oatmeal Stout, and the recipe I'm following says that if the steeping temp is too high (155 degrees) or too low (145) it may ruin the beer? Is this true?

    Over carbed bottles!

So, my beer has been fine, perfect head, perfect appearance, until these past few days. Everytime I cool one down and then pour it CALMLY into the glass, I get 85% head and just a small amount of visible beer at the bottom of the glass. What's the deal??? I used 5oz of priming sugar during...

    Not enough water!! Help!

I didn't add enough top off water to my carboy, I just realized. It's about 1 1/2 inches shy of the 5 gallon mark. I had two boil overs and lost some of the wort because of that. What should I do? Leave it be? Add more water now? It's been fermenting for about a day now already. Will this make...

Fridge size to hold a 6 1/2 gallon carboy

Ipa that ferments in mid 70s?

Can IPAs be fermented in the mid 70s? Or will that result in unwanted off flavors? I live in Florida , so keeping my wort cooled without a fridge is pretty difficult for me. And the swamp cooler in the bath tub method isn't very practical at home right now.

Yeast starter vs. dry yeast vs. liquid

What are the differences, reasons to use one over the other? Are any better than the others, or just more about preference?

What all can gravity readings tell you about your beer?

I know that they can be used to measure abv and also if you're done fermenting, but what else can it tell you?

I've brewed two beers in my brewing career, a golden ale and a Belgian wit. The ale is in the last couple days of bottle carbonating, and the Belgian wit is in its first day of primary fermentation. Both of these beers were brewed from partial mash kits, with malt extract and also speciality...

    How long must I wait??

I brewed my first batch of homebrew about a 3 weeks ago!! I bottled 5 days ago, and am thinking about waiting about 5 more before opening one up to try. Should this be long enough? I brewed the 'porch swing ale' from my local home brewing shop. It's has abv of 3.5-4%. Any other advice you can...
