(CraftBeerPi) - Convert my Gas Herms System to 240V 50A Electric Herms

I've been brewing almost 10 years (all but the first 2 brews have been all grain). For the last 6 years I've been brewing on a 3 Vessel Gas Herms system utilizing 2 Keggles and a large Igloo cooler. I'd like to convert this to an all electric system. During a remodel I've installed a 240V/50A...

DIY Propane Herms system - Omaha, Ne - $800 obo

I've been brewing on this setup for 6 years now. It's a good rig. I have over $1,000 invested. Open to offers. I'm only selling because I have the ability to go electric now. Willing to keep kettles, pump and chiller to negotiate price. Also willing to educate you on how to operate.

What is your opinion of "backside" partial mashing?

I am a regular parti-gyler and split batch brewer. I'm thinking about brewing a 10 gallon batch of low IBU IPA. I was thinking of cooling to 150*, pulling half for an IPA and then doing a backside partial mash to make the remainder a stout or brown ale. Thoughts? Y'all think it's too risky?

    TIFU Brewday

So today was interesting. I've been planning to brew this coming Saturday for awhile now. Out of the blue this morning, my wife suggested I brew today instead. I should've known then how bad today would go. First, my hose froze up and it took some work to get it flowing. I usually don't leave...

    Refractometer, Hydrometer, Gravity.... Oh My!

First, I wasn't sure if this belonged in Brew Science or Fermentation as it is directly related to Fermentation. Here's the situation. A few weeks ago I brewed a DIPA. This is also my first brew using my new refractometer. Post boil I had a gravity reading of 1.07 with my calibrated...

TIFU, Something I wish I would have read when researching making a Berliner Weisse

So I brewed my first sour beer on Saturday. It's supposed to be in the style of Berliner Weisse. I followed some instructions for souring I found from an article on BYO. I tossed a handful of grain into 1 gallon of wort. I let it ferment sour with the intention of boiling it before adding it...

    Help me find this recipe?!?!?

I've been brewing for about 4 years now. Roughly 3 years ago, I brewed a Belgian Tripel that I loved. I want to brew it again but I can't find the recipe. This is going to be a challenge because I can't remember the site the recipe was listed on, I just know it's not HBT. I also think the...

My worst Brew day so far

So I've been brewing for over 3 years now. Been on all grain for most of that. I built a Gas Herms System and this morning marked my 3rd beer on this system. Ugh, it's the only time I've packed everything up, glad to be done brewing. Like many of my fellow homebrewers, I have to make time to...

    Gas Herms Help Please

I'm working on my gas herms build. A local HVAC guy gave me a gas valve/control module combo. Unfortunately, he's not interested in helping me figure out how to make it work with my intended design. I was planning to use the Honeywell 8304M Valve and S8610 Module. What I have is The...

    Greetings and Salutations from Nebraska

Been brewing for 3 years, I've been lurking in the shadows for about just as long, gotten tons of great info from here. Just thought it was time to introduce myself and provide input from time to time.
