Do you consider electric/automated brewing equipment to be cheating?

I'm looking at switching to eBIAB, but I'm also looking at 240v with water/wort/mash everywhere, electric cords everywhere, electric controllers, pumps, heating elements, etc. ;)

Draining and disposing of spent grains

Possibly soldier fly larvae, not maggots? I get these in my compost. Attracted to wet grain and decaying vegetable material. Chickens love soldier fly larvae more than spent grains! The flies do not bite. They remind me of trilobites...

    Conical fermenter recommendation

Delta Brewing Systems makes the FermTank, a 4 gallon small batch ss fermenter. 4 PSI for pressure transfer. Does not have a bottom drain, although their 2 other larger tanks do. I *might* buy one eventually, although my glass carboys still do the job! I only do 3 gallon batches...

    Dripless picnic tap recommendations

I bought the Picnic Tap 2.0 about 2 weeks ago for use on 3 gallon Amcly style kegs. Plenty of room to put a glass under the tap. No drips yet! Will soon buy a second one for my other 3 gallon keg. It does pour a bit slower than the basic picnic tap. Foaming is not an issue, at least not...

Why do all SWMBOs hate brewing and what to do about it?

My wife doesn't like beer. Never picked up the habit. But, she never complains. In fact, she encourages me to brew! The only time she helps is if I bottle. To make it even more interesting, she's beginning to pick-up the beer lingo and sounds like a brewer!

    Cane sugar for bottling?

Well, there is cane sugar, made from cane sugar, and table/regular sugar, made from sugar beets. True cane sugar is processed less than regular sugar. Usually the bag will say which type. Not much difference chemically.

    Bottling CO² Vol limits theory

Of all the factors being considered regarding bottle strength, one might need to take into account whether the glass itself is made of recycled glass or virgin glass (waiting for the wise cracks).
