    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Sweet. I love the idea of using the malt pipe, but it seems like it's not the best design for efficiency with the dead space. Maybe I'll try only the bag for the bigger grain bill neipa and try the bag out the basket for my next 10# grist brew. Thanks!

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

My 10.5 is arriving in the mail tomorrow. Anything I should know or do for the initial cleaning? I'll be throwing some PBW in and scrubbing her down good! I plan to push the limit right away. Going to brew my NEIPA. I was getting about 85% mash efficiency with 5 gal batches on my current 15 gal...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

What was the Lovibond on that malt? That's wicked dark for an 86% pale malt base with just flaked oats and carapils.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Oh, it definitely could just be smoke! I posted a page or 2 back after having a 25 min conversation with Nate at the Deerfield TH this past Feb. He told me many brewers and breweries are chasing the straw colored hazy/neipa, but he loves the deep orange colored hazy ipas. He says TH uses light...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Sorry for the blurry pic. I took a screenshot from Tree House's newest video showing how they formulate recipes. Looks like for their mock YouTube double ipa they have Munich II in the grist. Might not be true, but judging the sweetness and color of their IPAs, it's possible. Robust malt...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Next time I'm taking Gold :) I hate mailing beer, especially if comps ask for entries a month in advance. I prefer to do the local-ish events where I can drop off my beer. I'm still not 100% confident in my packaging skills, so there's that. These were bottled off the tap, and capped on foam...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I had no clue about the mini BoS judging. I went up to the coordinator, and was like, "Uh, you guys messed up. I got the same scores as the First Place beer". Now I feel like an ass lol. But, I'm happy with the scores. At least I know it was "even" with the winner. I'll be sure to up my game...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

So today I had my latest all Citra hazy score a 39 and 38 in a local comp. Didn't place. I asked the 1st place guy his scores, and he showed me his sheets - 39 and 38! I wasn't aware of the mini BoS judging that happens when many beers score the same. Apparently, 6 beers made it to the mini BoS...

Advantage of clear wort during mash recirculation?

That's the obvious reason. I can't wait for that! I was wondering if the clarity was an advantage. Seems like clarity means the grain bed is filtering out sediment which means clearer wort into the kettle.

    Mash Bag vs Malt Pipe

This is my 1 concern moving over from a 15 gal kettle BIAB to the Foundry. I bought the bag for it, and I plan on using it, although I feel it defeats the purpose of the basket!

    Need to go electric...

    None that I know of!

foamy beer on every first pour?

5 feet is too short. 8-10ft will reduce foam. https://content.kegworks.com/blog/determine-right-pressure-for-your-draft-beer-system/ Did you use a spunding valve? Maybe your beer is overcarbed in addition to using too short of a liquid line?

    Need to go electric...

I pulled the trigger and purchased the Anvil Foundry 10.5 tonight. I like the 120v/240v option, and I already have so many of the other add-ons that come with the other AIO systems. This will suit my need for now! Also, I learned a great deal from this thread. Thanks to everyone who chimed in...

    Need to go electric...

That's a great explanation. That's what I was looking for. Thanks

Advantage of clear wort during mash recirculation?

I currently BIAB but have been looking into AIO systems. Most seem to have recirculation for the mash (I've never recirculated). After some research, I see a recurring theme in videos where the brewer talks about the recirculated wort being so clear on top of the grain bed. Is there any...
