    Compact HLT and MT build

Ran out of argon, one too many beers and first mock up last post. Today is Sunday funday after welding this week. Hard to ask for help but wanted to share. Worst is setting up each weld with shielding gas behind it, I use metal tape for HVAC. The wife calls it the tin man. I could use...

    Compact HLT and MT build

After one Biab, I will never extract again and decided to 3 vessel is the only way. Compact due to garage size and didn't want the stand to take up too much room. My research led me to the MT over the HLT in large units, so why not adapt to a smaller scale. Not sure what to name it, but fun to...

10 Gallon Batch in a Frankenstein Keggle

Five,10 gal extract and one fail BIAB batch but managed. What will it take to brew 10 gallon batches in a single vessel? When I cut the top off my keggle, new total volume is 14 gallons. I have an uncut keg, my current keggle and welding experience. Plan to weld in TC ferrules anyway, why not...

    DIY counterflow chiller

First BIAB was fun, not enough head space was the main issue amongst a few others. Everytime anything changes is a learning curve. I like BIAB, not ready to three vessel all grain. Going to start with another fresh keg. Cannibalize the top 6 to 8 inches of the old keggle and welded to the top of...

    DIY counterflow chiller

I pressurized the outer only with the 1/2 tube open inside it. I think it helped not kink. It kinked a little but mostly flattened out. It was impossible to roll myself. Lots of work. This weeks project: After wort loss in its current set up I cut the keggle top off, flipped the cfc over to...

    White labs fail?

Inexperience, first time with WL... Starter yeast, 2L flask ready to go. Foil sanatized... action. Didn't realize there was a sanatized inner tube inside the outer wraper. Cut both, poured into the flask... most definitely yeast on the outer wrapper not sanitized that made its way into the...

Flushing Walking Cooler with TXV in Place

Pic looks like a Q body style txv. Here is the install instructions. I don't mess with the body settings when the superheat and sup cool are already setup.

3000 rpm stir plate too much?

Way too much rpm. After we figured out that one magnet need to be flipped and a hole cut in the metal case the 3000 rpm was way too much. Going to order the speed control and make a rubber top to cover the hole / make nonstick. Vaca for a week, I'll be back to post f/u later thanks helterskelter...

Flushing Walking Cooler with TXV in Place

I don't recommend taking the txv body apart. The body is factory pre set. Pulling the power head off and removing the cartridge will grant easy access to the circut. I would never add old oil, just a tiny bit enough to wet the txv cartridge o-rings and power head mating service to reinstall...
