Keg Post Leaking Where it Joins the Keg Body?

If they expanded outwards far enough, perhaps. Height is covered, but maybe not squish factor. And though there's double the height, and you'd think they'd squish out, they are each taking half of an incomplete clamping force and still might not.

Keg Post Leaking Where it Joins the Keg Body?

Any chance the post is bottomed out, and can't go tighter? I've had a few leak a little bit right there, and finally realized it's because the post bottomed out and couldn't go tighter, thus it didn't actually squish the o-ring. When I changed to a new post that was physically shorter, it was...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Just a thorough clean, you should be good to go. Bag only should be about 75%, it is for me with no extra steps. With the pipe you can lift it, let it drain maybe 10 sec, and then slowly put it bac so you can mix in the dead water space around the sides of the pipe. Do that 3 or 4 times over...

    Racking to keg from FV?

I would use it to clear air out of the lines you use for your connections. It's almost certainly not a big deal either way but it's free CO2 so why not. Agreed you don't need any pressure. Beer goes down because of gravity, CO2 comes up to replace it. It should work with or without pressure...

    Racking to keg from FV?

Indeed. This is not my picture, but it's the gist. fill keg w/ water, purge with co2. Attach accordingly. I know it's a different setup, but you can take the gist of this and apply it to most any gravity transfer situation.

“Pint of Bitter Please!” Beer Recipe?

There's a HUGE English ale favorite recipe thread but if you haven't kept up with it for a year or more it may be overwhelming. If you look through the forum's recipes, you should find one from Miraculix that would be a good start. In fact I'll link it...

    Distilled Water & Starters

I have used the canned starters, would again. They're convenient for sure, and sometimes I'm rushed and that's nice, sometimes I don't need it. I've only ever added tap water. I suppose boiling that water is best practice but tap water's pretty clean in general, w/ the chloramines and such in...

English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

Off topic of English ales, but on topic of molasses, my kiddo and I were recently reading a book about a "molasses flood" in Boston just over 100 years ago. Pretty big deal, and actually killed people: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Molasses_Flood They were actually making ethanol from it...

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

I wouldn't be surprised if people supposedly worried about range anxiety will move the goalposts and find another problem even if EV's are soon able to do 500 miles. I can't complain about others too much, I just ordered a new Z4.

    Pressure transfer question

I'm a bit late, and it's been covered I think... I will agree that it's probably a PV=nRT thing. CO2 from the tank is depressurizing and cooling where it comes out, and it can cause things to get cold. With the right ambient conditions it could have ice form I suppose. As mentioned my propane...

Gardening 2024 - Whatcha got going on this year?

Freeze warnings in MN tonight. We' usually give it a few more weeks before we even think about it. Although seeds could be done soon. Hmm.

    (another) shout out to ritebrew

Definitely works for us in the middle. SpeeDee delivery is always next day for us without having to pay next day rates. If I had my preferences I'd love for Neil there to carry some British crystal malts - light, medium and dark would be nice. I think that's the only thing I go look for. I...

English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

Kind of my ingredients, actually. I've been going with Fuggles at times, and haven't added amber yet. The Pale chocolate was just the once but of course I had other changes and couldn't tell what it added. I've also had Victory in most of them, went up to nearly 10% last time, but don't think I...

English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

I do have some caramel 40 and 60 in it, as well as Victory (sort of like biscuit). I've been trying golden naked oats at times as well. I just didn't want to cloud the subject of the brown / chocolate malts. I appreciate the discussion! I hadn't considered amber before. Hmm. I'd always had it...
