I’ve made this beer twice and both times its tasted strong of corn. First time I let it sit on the AE for 3 weeks and still never hit .000, didn’t like it so poured out. This time it sat on beano for 2 weeks and is stuck at .003 with strong corn taste, ive kegged it on top of some...
Just brewed a 3 gallon batch last night to try this recipe out but just noticed I bought plain american 2-row, not pilsner 2-row....any difference? I hit all the numbers from the recipe, except my mash dropped from 154 to 151-152 because of dead space in my tun,. Any idea what to expect?
Just made a scaled down 2.5 gallon extract version of this and missed the OG by a mile....I endend up with only 1.040 OG so it's way too bitter! Thinking about making another 2.5 batch with more DME and blending the two together. Anyone every tried this? Maybe I should make the same batch...
Have you ever left the batch sitting on the yeast the entire time? Ive had it in primary for about 2 weeks @65 degree while away for christmas and was wondering if I could leave it the entire 7 weeks without any detrimental effects.
Tahnks,
Terry
I didnt get any conversion from my grains in the partial mash so my OG was only 1.020 (From the DME) FG was 1.000 thanks to the AE. Still this was a very nice brew, lots of hop flavor, crisp and light. We kicked the entire 5 gallons in one night thanks to beer pong and the casual BMC drinkers. I...
I wanted to use up my extra ingrediants from my last batch so I fiddled around with the numbers in PROmash and this is what I've got.
1lb Pale malt 2-row
.5lb Pale malt 6-row
.5lb Flaked corn
1lb Muntons Light DME
This still got me around 1.030 OG
Hops
.2oz Hallertau 3.9% @60 mins
.5oz...
Anyone have a partial mash version of this? I'm new to brewing and I'd like to make 5gal's for my wife's grad school party but dont have enough equipment to do the full grain version. If not I guess I'll give the extract version a try. Also how would this taste if I used Safale-04 I have some...
Just cracked open a bottle of the same beer but brewed with dark roasted Quiona, and dark roasted Millet instead of the Buckwheat, this one is AWESOME! I put the sorghum and molasses in for the full 60 minute boil so the OG was @1.085 and ended @1.016 it is really strong but it fits the style so...
How are you guys calculating specific gravity with sorghum, rice syrup, and other GF grains? I want to keep this brew around 1.030-1.035 so how much of either extract should I use?
Thanks again,
-T
How different would this beer turn out if I substituted sorghum for the brown rice syrup? Ive got a tub white sorghum in the fridge and my local homebrew shop is out of rice syrup. It will be a couple of weeks for them to restock, and I'd rather buy from them instead of the online shops.
@dorklord: From what ive read in this thread if you keep the OG low and add the Amylase in secondary it gives you a decent ABV while keeping the calorie/Carb count low, like Michelob ultra. Like I said i'm new to brewing and am just taking info from other people's brews.
@Lcasanova: I may...
He is defiantly not a hop head, his favorite beer growing up was Schlitz:( Ive recently got him to try some IPA's and a stout I made but its not his thing. He seems to like Yuengling, but tends to stay towards bud/coors light.
