Color of wort = color of finished beer?

Wait and see is always a safe answer around here, and rarely a bad one. :)

Got free bottles to give away? Post 'em here!

North Liberty, Iowa - bottles available I have two cases of 22 oz bombers, and 3 cases of 12 oz bottles that I no longer need. One of the cases of 12 oz bottles is SNPA stubbies with the labels still on, and one case is Sam Adams Octoberfest with the labels still on. I'll take them to the...

Apfelwein has a layer of krausen forming? I think?

Mine did the same thing initially, now it's cool. In my experience (cool basement) it took almost 6 weeks before it started to clear, and now at eight weeks still has a continuous stream of little bubbles coming up from the depths. Can't wait to try it in April!

New Italian made kegs from more beer

    Don't the Italian kegs have non-removable posts/poppets?

    Primary/Secondary question?

I used to do secondaries but, honestly, it was just too much work for me to do for too little perceived reward. Now I just do 28 days in primary before kegging/bottling and my beers are better than ever! But, I haven't ever dry hopped or added oak or fruit - that would probably make a...

    6 months in ferm

I brewed an Irish stout and promptly forgot about it for about six months. At that point, I kegged it. Probably the best stout I've ever made! Neil

    Adding Coffee today - question

How do you cold brew k-cups? Like, rip them open and cold brew the grounds? Cold brew coffee is the best! Well, besides beer.

What beer things did you get for Christmas?

I got a refractometer and an oxygenation kit, but it's too darn cold to brew in Iowa right now! Maybe I'll try it Sunday when the low is supposed to be -22°F. Winter stinks. Neil

    2014 Brewyears Resolutions

I have two: Finally attempt an all-grain (or at least a partial mash) brew. Let the keg carbonate fully before "sampling." Don't know if the second one has a chance... Neil
