Hello, I have been reading a bit on cider brewing and was wondering if this woudl work.
Using store bought apple juice, say a 3 ltr container. I add a litre of water and then about half a kilo of dextrose. this should up the SG to about 1.085 (give or take). I then add my yeast and seal it up...
I'm an absolute newbie at this. But how much room do you have between the top of the brew (Krausen I think it is called) and the bottom of the airlock?
Is there so little room that when the cider bubbles it doesn't have enough room and it is bubbling straight up through the bottom of the airlock?
I just tasted it actually (from the hydrometer), just a small mouthful, It dorsnt that bad actually. Nothing fancy, but it definitely doesn't taste like vinegar or anything like that.
