    Fermentation Chamber Heating Recommendations

+1 for the seedling mat. I have two of them running vertically in my glass door fermentation chamber and that setup works great. Mine is indoors, but my basement temp in winter is probably the same as the outdoor temp in Phoenix...

need help with LCD hookup on Fermentrack build

If you short pin 7 to ground it disables the display auto-dim, so will stay on.

need help with LCD hookup on Fermentrack build

Hopefully I'm not misunderstanding your setup/question, but if you have an I2C (four wire) LCD, then I'm pretty sure you have to use the I2C firmware.

need help with LCD hookup on Fermentrack build

I don't remember the firmware options offhand, but it was the latest I2C compatible version when I set it up last year. LBussy told me that you MUST use A0 to the onewire bus when using I2C. You run from the onewire bus to the probes as shown. A4 and A5 are used for the I2C. I originally had it...

need help with LCD hookup on Fermentrack build

Yes, with help from the good folks in the howto-make-a-brewpi-fermentation-controller-for-cheap thread. After making some wiring changes, I still couldn't get it to work, it ended up being a bad display module. Once I swapped that out it worked fine. My wiring diagram is attached, if this is of...

LP Propane Plumbing for Brew Stand

If it were me, since the low pressure hookup from the house system is there for the taking, I would go with a low pressure burner setup and see how you like it. I wouldn't think twice about it. Low pressure burners are much quieter than high pressure, and can be easily converted to an automated...

Looking for Suggestions on Fermentation Temp Control

Just a thought, but you might be ok with another fridge or freezer on that 20 amp circuit, depending on amp rating and depending on what else you want to plug in (e.g. probably not so good if you use a lot of power tools). I had two 9 cu.ft. freezers on a 15 amp circuit in my basement for a...

    ITC 1000 Wiring Help

Oh man, that wiring diagram is making the hair on the back of my neck stand up, though the diagram from the manufacturer is unclear. First off, I suggest running your cooling and and fan through a relay, and not rely on the dubious amp rating of the dinky little switches in your controller...

Keezer Do Over - Removing tower and adding collar

Given that you are going to build a cabinet anyway, and will be stored indoors, I suggest scrapping the freezer lid and building one from wood. A little bit of extra work, but worth it imo. I did that with my build, works great. Your cabinet could be wider than the freezer to hide your CO2...

    Homebrewing Progression

Some great advice from all the experienced folks here. Only thing I would add, and only because I didn't see it mentioned (may have missed it) is to get good at taking notes. Record every data point that you can think of on brew day and during fermentation. This will help avoid future...

    Drip tray drain lone

My drip tray is recessed into the lid of my keezer and I didn't bother running a drain line, I just swab the drip tray out and remove for cleaning from time to time. Haven't had a problem yet.....

Extension Cord for Keezer - is there such thing as safe one to use?

I would use an extension cord with the same amp rating as the circuit breaker that protects the outlet that you are plugging into. In my house, the c/b's are pretty much all 15 A. Otherwise, as others have said, just keep the cord safe from damage etc. I have that same freezer in my keezer...

    Brand for keezer build

How big of a freezer are you looking for this time around? I'm pretty happy with my Insignia 10.2 cu.ft. so far, though to be fair it's only been energized since last summer.
