What is the difference?
A recipie I am going to use calls for Pale Ale malt (2.0 SRM) and I am using Beersmith to replicate the recipie. Beersmith has the choice of Pale Malt (2-Row 2.0 SRM) so I chose that when replicating the recipie. However, when shopping my local homebrew shop online I...
Yeah, I stopped using a secondary as soon as I heard about people getting good results without one. If I were going to dry hop or use fruit, I would then but until then it's just 3-4 week primaries for me.
I just brewed this as my second all grain and so far so good. My question is about how long to leave in the primary. I have read alot of this thread and see that most references were still around ten days but this thread is pretty old. I know there has been a recent push to leave ales on the...
I found the same thing with the 1.5" seeming to be too short. I got it to work but I don't feel very secure about it. I also plan on going back and buying a longer nipple and already have some extra washers.
You know, I have always "known" about this and think that I have done a good job of keeping them out of reach of my own dog. But after actually hearing your story I know that I will be ever vigilant in ensuring I store and dispose of them properly. I am so sorry for your loss.
Simple question. Does anything change with regards to the amounts of sugar used for carbing? I typically use 3/4 cup for 5 gallons of corn sugar but the recipie calls for DME but didn't give an amount. I imagine it will be the same amount and method, right?
It's pretty clear now as it is so I am not going to cold crash. I think I may raise the temp a few degrees however, like up to 68 or so in hopes of rousing the yeast a bit.
I think you guys are right and I should man up and do option 2 and make time for it. That being said do you guys see any benefit of me raising the temperature a few degrees in hopes of rousing the yeast a bit? I was also planning on cold crashing this batch (never done it before) but option 2...
I want to start with the fact that if I had more time I would just let this brew sit longer, but I will be traveling soon so I can't.
I brewed Orfy's Hobgoblin II clone on 12/31/10, full boil extract using 6.6 lbs of Briess golden light LME and 1.0 lbs of Briess golden light DME for the main...
I thought I read on here that only CPVC should be used due to the high temps. But it seems that you guys using regular PVC aren't having any warping issues at all. I think I will end up going with PVC.
Well, I figured it out and the 1 gallon seems to be the trick. I am now worried about the point you brought up. I am too a little worried about using galvanized metal over a boiling pot of acidic wort.
Where did everyone find their CPVC reducers at? My Lowes and HD didn't have any CPVC...
My only concern with using tapes is that something might leach out of them when sitting up over a boiling pot for over an hour. Do you think this concern is valid or me just being paranoid?
