New Jersey 8 Kegs, Plate Chiller, Mash Tun

The small kegs are sold already. I will look into shipping the kegs if I do not receive a local offer. The plate chiller is great, it was dropping my beer to pitching temps on one pass using hose water in the summer.

New Jersey 8 Kegs, Plate Chiller, Mash Tun

I am unloading my brewing gear for now as we have our first child on the way soon. I will mail the chiller and the keg gloves but the rest I would prefer to do local pick up. I don't want to clog the post up with pictures so email me if you are interested in a specific item and I will get you...

What I did for beer today

Just bottled a Brett saison I made using wlp670. Its been sitting in secondary on oak cubes and then was just dry hopped for 7 days with calypso. I haven't brewed since April so I am hoping to fire up the kettle this weekend.

    What are you drinking now?

Patio Ale my hoppy wheat session beer. I usually make clear beers but this is cloudy as its more than half wheat malt and flaked wheat, uses a large dry hops, and uses Conan yeast from Yeastbay.

    Conan Yeast Experiences

Using this yeast in a recipe that's more than half wheat with a good sized dry hop makes for one cloudy beer.

    Brett Starter Strain

I started by using wlp670 which is a blend of saison yeast and a Brett strain. I fermented for about 12 days then racked to secondary and added some oak cubes to age for a couple of months. I also underpitched hoping to bring out more funk. My second brett batch is with WLP644 which I stepped...

    Blue Moon Clone

Tasted a sample today and it was great. The Mrs. approved which was really the point of brewing this. Also Blue Moon was the first 6 pack she ever brought to my place when we were first dating so it was cool to be able to make our own.

    What's your basic grain "Arsenal"?

Briess Pale Ale malt and in the summer Briess white wheat malt too.

    Bacon Beer

The Mad Fermentationist has a smoked rye Baltic porter recipe on his site. I brewed it this year using San Fran lager yeast and everyone who has it says it reminds them old bacon. Some people even say chocolate covered bacon but you get the idea. I'd reccomend this recipe if you are looking...

What I did for beer today

Brewed a Blue Moon clone for the wife, although my half got Wyeast 3944. I still can't believe what an upgrade my Duda diesel 30 plate chiller is over my shirron. And then the quick connects I got from Bobby M were also awesome, can't believe I waited so long to get those. Even with gravity...

What are you doing instead of brewing this weekend?

I am off all week for Spring Break and am hoping to knock out 5 batches. 1 sour brown, hoppy wheat, 4 grain table saison, wit beer, and American style hefe. I also need to bottle 2 batches.

What I did for beer today

Added 2 oz of Galaxy dry hops to a batch of hoppy wheat. And I racked a batch of saison using wlp670 to secondary with 3 oz of oak cubes.

What are you doing instead of brewing this weekend?

Went to Carton Brewing for their release of Comma, a black saison with peppercorns. I always leave that place inspired to brew.
