Nice. Effectively, CO2 is rising those stuff to the top and then goes to bottom with gravity. I'm happy to see you have the same first point of view than me. Thanks!
Hi buddys!
I started a peach cider with apple and peach juice one week ago with EC-118 champagne yeast. I started it in my primary food grade plastic bucket and racked it in my 1 gallon glass carboy. I noticed a 3 inch headspace on top on the fermenter when I racked it. So, I...
I usually wait 3-4 days in the primary, SG is around 1.010ish at this time. I rack it in the carboy for a week and I bottle. I do this quick process for all the beers I made since 2010 and no problem at all.
I never close the lid of the bucket so the yeast can have oxygen to do their work. I just put it on the top so nothing fall in the wort. When the fermentation is about 1.010ish I rack it in the carboy.
Follow the SG with your hydrometer it's the best way to know what's happening with your beer. If you don't have one... buy one :D since you have the bug hehe. 5 days is a bit long for no sign of fermentation. Did you see any krausen? If you saw it and it fall down, that's an other good sign of...
I usually rack my beer in the carboy when the SG turn around 1.010ish. You got a good krausen quick, that's a good sign for you. Be sure to check the SG gravity before racking because if you are racking too soon maybe the foam with blow off your air lock. I usually rack my beer after 3-4 days. I...
I want to do a 1 gallon cider with apple and peach juice. I don't have a 1 gallon food grade bucket for the primary fermentation or any plastic bucket that size. Is it possible for me to do the primary fermentation in my 5 gallon food grade bucket (big head space) and then rack it in my 1 gallon...
I can't skip the money argument when a grolsch bottle if free from my buddy and I should pay 65$ from the LHBS. I would love to have a lot of keg. It takes less space than beer case. For the light skunky argument, my bottles are in a cardboard box in my basement so.. and the grolsh bottles have...
I bottle since I started brewing 2 years ago.Bought a kegging system a month ago can't wait to build my kegerator. Can't wait to see my wife face when she see the kegerator in the workshop hahaha! I do 23 liters batch so i'll bottle 4L and keg the left-over. I gave a dark ale to my friend last...
I leave in Canada so I just put the brew pot in the snow hehe we must have at least an advantage. You really need to cool that wort as quick as possible so the wort chiller is the best thing for you.
I use immersion wort chiller like this one:
