I'm looking to borrow a 1-5/8" Green Lee punch to enlarge 1 hole from 1.25 to 1-5/8in.
I've got 2 Pot & Kettle's left from my last trip to Trillium that I'd be willing to send back with the punch. :)
I've got a Blichman 20G kettle that has a 1.25" hole in it for an electric element. I had it wired up with a junction box on the outside (Kal style), and after 2 years of using it I needed to pull it apart to replace the element.
Instead of just re-doing what I had, I'm looking to get a...
I brewed this on 11/6 and kegged it two weeks later on 11/20. I didn't have the equipment for a closed transfer, so I did what I could: I purged a keg with CO2, and then used my racking cane to fill the keg while covering the opening with a towel. Then I purged the keg when I was done.
I...
Sure, here's a picture of CPB and SBE running on my hosehead. Let me know if you want any other screenshots.
I haven't fired up my heating element via CPB, but I've tested the pump because it uses the same 120v power that powers the hosehead. I expect everything would work, the probes and...
I ran the install script on my Hosehead, and (foolishly) upgraded my whole Raspberry Pi. I hadn't done that since I bought my hosehead a year ago. It took about 20-30 minutes for everything to update.
Fortunately, after the upgrade, everything still works. I rebooted and VNC'd right back in...
Made some adjustments and this is one of the quickest kegs I've gone through. Here's what I did:
Brew day: 9/15/15. OG: 1.051
Kegged from primary on 10/15/15. FG: 1.015. Mint was VERY faint. This was basically a chocolate stout. (I used the mint tea bags suggested in the recipe.) I added...
I've got a picture of my setup below.
Router flashed with DD-WRT mounted underneath the brewcart tabletop. The hosehead connects to this, and the router is wirelessly bridged to my home network, so the hosehead is accessible from any of my devices.
Blichmann 20G kettle with a 5500W Kal-style...
Once you figure out how much your parts list will cost (plus your time) - compare it to the prebuilt Hosehead controller (brewtronix.com). For ~$400, you get a turnkey device with SBE installed, ready to monitor three temperatures, control 2 elements and 2 pumps. I've got 2 brews under my belt...
I didn't measure how much water was left behind, but I filled it tonight and didn't have any issues getting the dip tube to drain. When I got it in better light, I did notice a scratch under the latch that was bent, so some styrofoam around the sides seems necessary during shipping.
Overall...
I'll try and put water in mine tonight and see how mine works. Before you added the o-ring, was the dip-tube noticeably loose? Or did it appear tight but it's just not water tight? (Trying to figure out if i'll have the same problem)
It seems a little unconventional, but the flared diptube is held tight against the fitting with a nut. In the picture below, there's a nut just out of the picture on the right that will slide down and screw onto the threads.
With a few turns of the hand, it seems pretty tight and it's not...
Received my 20g thermobarrel this morning. It's awesome. Can't wait to brew with it. The instructions it came with are simple but well done (cleaning, assembly, etc) They even included plumbers tape!
Only issue I had was that one of the metal pieces that fits over the latches was bent (bottom...
I haven't had the draft version. I'm looking to clone the can version. Would I be better off using the BYO Double Sunshine recipe? Or is this one closer to the SoS cans?
SWMBO told me that someone at work mentioned a new homebrew shop opened up a few months ago on the Hartford/West Hartford line. That was all she got, no name or more specific area.
A search on the Google didn't turn anything up - not sure if this is true, has anyone heard anything about a new...
