    Solid Strut Brewstand build

Check to see if the bolt and the nut are the same thread size. If the nut is a fine thread and you're trying to torque it down on a normal thread bolt you'll have issues.

    Switching from BIAB to AG

Just make sure to drain off a few quarts of wort, and then add it back to the top of the MT, to set the grain bed prior to draining your first runnings. I've noticed that the slower I drain the first runnings the better efficiency I end up with in the end. It normally takes me 45-60mins to...

soaking oak chips in bourbon, discard bourbon or add all?

And by discarding you mean draining over ice and adding a splash of coke right?

Clone Beer Founder's Breakfast Stout Clone

Awesome idea to split the runnings! I honestly went down to the basement to grab a bottle of beer and had the breakfast stout in my hand but wasn't decided against the 10% beer and went with something more sessionable. Definitely let us know how it turns out!

I bottled mine and the first month is coffee forward, still a good beer. After 6-8 weeks the chocolate comes forward and the coffee dissipates revealing a different beer. Another guy in my club asked for the recipe after having it a month after bottling, I gave him the recipe along with a...

Clone Beer Founder's Breakfast Stout Clone

I tossed in 2 oz of coarse ground espresso at flame out and then for the 2nd addition I sanitized my French press and then cold brewed 2 oz of Sumatra in 2 cups of water for 24 hours and then added it at bottling with no problems. Its the best beer i've ever brewed, its going to be tough to age...

What I did for beer today

So I've found out that if I buy brewing equipment gradually over time instead of all at once my SWMBO asks a lot less questions. That being said, I ran down to AIH today and picked up a 10b CO2 tank and should be pouring draft beer shortly. :ban:

When I brewed mine, I just cut up the 2 oz of bakers chocolate as small as I could and dropped it at the 15 min mark. With a decent heavy chefs knife you can almost shave the chocolate into pieces that melt rather quickly.

What I did for beer today

Got a text from my father-in-law who works for coca-cola. The owner of the restaurant he was working at told him to either throw them away or recycle them or do whatever it was they do with the old syrup kegs... Gotta love 2 free kegs!

    Toasty Cascade Ale?

definitely report back Omahawk, it sounds like a pretty tasty brew either way. I've been toying around with an idea similar to yours for a toastier APA but I have a back log of beers I want to brew before I get you it.

Clone Beer Founder's Breakfast Stout Clone

I bottled this two weeks ago and couldn't resist the urge to crack a few open this meeting at my HBC meeting. Coffee additions were 2 oz at flame out of just a basic espresso coarse grind and then 2 oz of cold brewed starbucks Sumatra at bottling. Chocolate additions were 2 oz each of bakers...

    Swap-O-Rama #3, ANTI LOCAL!

I just found this thread and caught up on it, I'm beyond jealous! Next time I'm in for sure. My wife always questions why there are always breweries along our vacation travels... I just blame it on just plain good luck, but spend more time scouting out local breweries then actual vacation...
