    Thermowell/thermometer setup question

    I am new to all-grain brewing and just setup my new DIY 1-tier brewing system. I purchase 3 10 gallon kettles online from HighlandBrewingSupply.com. The thermometers are in a location where they will not be submerged unless there is more than 5 gallons in the kettle. Are the thermometers useless...
