    Ball Lock Keg Needed

Kjuckett hit it on the head. I just ordered 2 new ball lock cornys from aih @ $75 each, plus $20.00 shipping. $85.00 each for brand spanking new kegs. I had looked for weeks on Craigslist, ebay, etc, and figured the extra jack for new kegs was well worth it. Cheapest I found them locally...

    IIPA not carbonating, what next?

I brewed my 8th batch of beer, a double IPA Best Brew kit, under ideal conditions (mid 60 degree temps) in December, and bottled it over 2 weeks ago after leaving it in primary fermenter for 32 days. The airlock bubbled to beat the band from day 2 to day 9. I added 5 oz corn sugar to the 5...

    Brewer on a Budget

The idea of buying bottles full of beer is a good one. After seeing empty Grolsch bottles on ebay selling for $3-4 plus shipping (crazy), I went to the local beer store and bought a dozen full bottles for about $2.25 each.

What got you started in brewing?

I took a bacteriology course my senior year in college ('78) and as a lab "experiment" we brewed a batch of beer. After the final exam, we had a Christmas party at the last lab session. I had 3 maybe 4 beers. What I didn't realize is that the finished product was around 10% abv. Long story...

    Forgot Hops

Dry hop for 4-5 days, then bottle?? That will help the aroma and maybe add some flavor, but you are not going to get the bitterness that you should have had from boiling the hops.

    PLC/HMI Touchscreen Fermenter Project

Is this for real? Kinda takes the fun out of home brewing don't it, and I imagine it adds to the per batch cost as well. But cool technology never the less.

Carboy rack, hauler, box, no work.

After much research and study, I saved up for months and finally bought a beer hauler. (Nylon sling, $12.00 at LHBS). Works great, at least so far.

New post a picture of your pint

My first stab at an IPA, using a kit put together by my LHBS. Mistakenly dry hopped with 2 oz. Hallertau rather than the Falconers Flight recipe called for. Anyway, after 11 days in the bottle it is plenty carbed, and surprisingly tasty. The hops note is not as citrusy? as a lot of the...

    Long term storage

You don't realize how lucky you are to have a basement. I would give my left walnut for one. I live in an low elevation area where the water table is maybe 3-5 feet below ground.

    Long term storage

Once a beer has been bottled and conditioned is it best to store it for long term (several months at most) at room temp or refrigerated? I have been refrigerating my beer after 2 weeks of bottle conditioning, and wondered if that could have adverse effect on the beer in the long haul.

    help me develop my taste.

As a recent convert myself I have tried to sample as many IPA and IIPAs as possible. I really like Bell's Oracle, Foot Hill's Hopyum, Ballast Point Sculpin and Founders Centennial, although the Oracle was almost too much for my undeveloped palate.

OK, how bad did I screw up?

Went to the freezer for my 2 oz of hallertau hops for the Hefeweizen I am brewing, and found 2 oz of Falconers, which should have been dry hopped to my IPA I bottled last week. This means I dry hopped my IPA with the Hallertau, and I will be hopping my Hefeweizen with the Falconers. Will I...

    Cooler ised as Swamp cooler?

It's pretty amazing how much simple evaporation can cool an object. I learned this while using a digital thermometer while brewing. I took the thermometer out of cooling wort and it went down to 63 degrees, about 10 degrees cooler than the ambient temp. Once the thermometer was dry, it...
