    Is 'still beer' still beer?

I have been decanting a bit of beer from secondary before kegging the rest so I could drink it un-carbonated. While it does taste significantly different than carbonated beer, it is an enjoyable beverage, especially on ice. I did it because I was having temporary difficulty swallowing and...

    Yeast Harvesting: A Novel Approach?

I am new to brewing and had considered "washing " used yeast but when I was actually faced with doing it, it seemed fraught with problems so I dumped the yeast. This makes alot more sense to me - growing up the pure yeast and then reserving some of the pure stuff for the next batch. Alot like...

    What are you drinking now?

Drinking a blackberry wine from the local blackberry festival last weekend as well as some of my cream ale and my oatmeal stout, neither of which I care much for. The cream ale is too hoppy and the stout too burnt tasting. So sad that I drank my Honey Porter so fast. Still trying to get my...

    How did you find us?

Found during a google search on one of my many beer-related searches. First posted here to get help on my Keezer temp controller which was not working right. (Turned out to be defective but I had lost confidence in my brewing diagnostic abilities after making so many brewing mistakes. I usually...

    Fruit Beer Requiem Raspberry

I have read through this whole thread and learned alot about fruit beers. I made a blackberry wheat a few weeks ago but the 6 lbs of blackberries were added to the wort after the boil rather than in the secondary. Haven't tasted it yet but I loved the black cherry lambic krieg I bought at the...

    Need Keezer help!

Thanks all for your help. I took the controller back and got a different one of the same model and this new one is working correctly. I couldn't believe that the first one I got was defective, it looks so pristine but it must have been.

    Need Keezer help!

CGVT, Perhaps you are right. In response to your post, I sent the same message to my HBS to ask them. I have made so many idiotic mistakes in brewing that I wanted to see if any of you folks noticed something I am overlooking before I have them point out one more obvious mistake I have made.

    Need Keezer help!

Help! Struggling for a week to get the temperature correct in my Keezer. It varies from 60F to 20F. My equipment is a Gibson 8 cf chest freezer I purchased new in 1991. Has always worked well as a freezer. I bought a Penn temperature controller from my local Home Brew Supplier. I plugged the...
