Bayou SQ14 use on a deck?

I would just put a piece of old plywood, particle board, etc underneath it. The heat transfer capability of wood is very poor so it should protect your deck fine.

    Great Deal on Thermapens...

Hrm... guess that makes sense. Still seems a bit steep for a thermometer but I can't say I haven't indulged in some luxury items before. I just bought a Blichmann burner, afterall. =P $135

    Great Deal on Thermapens...

Am I missing something? That's an expensive thermometer! Is there a distinct advantage to this one over the $10-$20 ones that seem to read temperature fine?

    Irish moss, who cares?

Well, your question was "Does Irish Moss really do anything to the beer?" And then you follow it up with "I don't care if my beer is clear." To answer your first question- Yes, it does do something to the beer. It aids in clarity. Done and done. It's proven by countless folks. In my...

    Willamette/Chinook Blend

Huh... interesting... I JUST brewed a batch a few days ago where I just used my leftover Willamette with the Chinook I bought. Funny that it came up here.

Show us your DIY wort chillers

You kidding me? Heat transfer between two liquids even in its simplest form is an incredibly complex set of equations. If we simplified it to just mixing 10 gallons of 32 degree water with 5 gallons of 212 degree water... it would still only create 15 gallons of 91.67°F. And that's the best...

Show us your DIY wort chillers

I call BS on a 5 minute chill time. Complete and utter BS. Either you're lying, your watch is broken, or your thermometer is. That's impossible by the laws of physics.

    danby kegerator problem

Is your compressor bad? You should hardly be able to hear it once it's running. If it makes a loud buzzing noise, it's probably blown or on it's way. If it's blown, it emits alot more heat than it can take away and eventually it just can't keep up. It can't cool the small refrigerator space...

What happened to my Ginger Ale!?

I made 5 gallons (kegged it and force carbed) of delicious ginger ale (non-alcoholic) for the fiance and my nephews and neices. It was delicious for a month or so and then all of the sudden I went for a pour and a bunch of ginger/lime sludge came out. I figured "Wow, we went through it...

    DIY Interwoven "Rib-Cage" Immersion Chiller

I highly doubt you'd get a cone... the ribcage chiller chills more volumetric area so you don't need to do a concurrent whirlpool nor would it really help much. The whirlpool on a traditional IC was designed specifically to combat the limitations of a traditional IC, not a ribcage. If you...

    Critique My Bottle Procedure

OneStep is a .... one step... cleaner/sanitizer... and you don't have to rinse it out. Might wanna try that.

    Critique My Bottle Procedure

I think you're being too anal. I think alot of talk on these forums and all around the internet make a bigger deal out of sanitation than is necessary. That said, I still think it's very important but it's just not as easy to get an infection as people make it out to be. For me, I pretty...

Food Grade Dry Ice Cooling didnt work

Notice I never said a thing about spelling. =P And hey, I was one letter off! Anyway, I know I came off pretty damn brash but really, it just bugs me that we American people nowadays can be so completely incapable of communicating. I damn near blow a gasket every time I see someone...

Food Grade Dry Ice Cooling didnt work

You need to learn how to use punctuation, grammar, and the English language in general. You just wrote one giant nonsensical contradictary run-on sentence. I have no clue what you said other than you put dry ice into your brew pot and you apparently learned something. The only reason I...

First Time Kegger Doesn't understand his CO2 regulator!

If there is any liquid CO2 left in the tank, the pressure should be somewhere between 500-1000 psi depending on temperature. The colder it is, the lower the pressure (Look up Ideal Gas Law). As long as there is liquid CO2 in your tank, the pressure should stay almost the same. The only way...
