Dry hopped my ‘Tropical Bitter’ this AM. It’s an Ordinary Bitter with Amarillo for bittering, 1 oz each Necteron, Moutere, Eclipse, and El Dorado in a 30 min 140°F whirlpool and 1 oz each Necteron, Moutere, Eclipse, and El Dorado in a three day active fermentation dry hop.

By consulting the BJCP guidelines, in a round about way, you are. Plenty of examples in CAMRA’s Essential Home Brewing. Several recipes include Citra, Simcoe, Mosaic, Amarillo, Ekuanot, Cascade, Centennial, etc…in all sorts of beers such as Bitters, Goldens, IPA(s), etc….even a Vienna Lager...

That’s the beauty of homebrewing. There aren’t any restrictions. I mix match styles because I like lower ABV styles like Leichtbier, Bitters and Golden Ales but throw in tropical Aus or NZ, or citrus-y American hops.
