You know what beer I miss?

Miss the Cream Stout too. We used to buy that at the grocery store in those 2 liter soda bottles. Good stuff.

    Lime peel?

I'm dying to try this recipe for Stone's Vertical Epic for 2004 using Keffir lime. Stone Vertical Epic Ale

    Anyone ever had Olde Heurich

It was originally brewed in Washington, DC and then contracted out to a company in Pittsburgh, I believe. The brand was discontinued some time ago and replaced, I think, by one of the two Foggy Bottom beers. Does anyone know if this is the case? If so, which one replaced it? Last question...

I've Had it With These POS Traceable Thermometers!

Evan, I think I got the same exact thermometers, but from Lab Safety Supply. Lab Safety Supply - Safety Products, Material Handling, Industrial Supply, Respirators, Safety Glasses and More! (I think). I pulled one out of the box and it simply failed to operate at all. Here's where my story...

    Pickle Bucket for grist?

I got one at Firehouse Subs for $5.00. The money goes to help firefighters and they cleaned it for me in the store. I have never been able to detect a pickle smell from the bucket.

    Counterflow Christening

Not sure about the copper and vinegar. For brass, Palmer, in his book, suggests immersing the metal in a mixture of Hydrogen Peroxide and Vinegar (1:3 ratio I believe). You watch the metal, and when it turns a buttery yellow you remove it from the solution. If it starts to turn green, you...

    Recommendations on kegging kits

I just started kegging and got my setup from KegConnection. I didn't really comparison shop so I don't know how their prices compare but they are great folks to deal with. Orders were processed quickly and completely. The quality of the items shipped seems very good. The one small problem I...

    Fermenting saison

I'm pretty much prohibited from acquiring any new brewing equipment for awhile. Sing along if you'd like, "SWMBO, sweet chariot...."

    Fermenting saison

Bob, that is one hell of a detailed guess. Thank you very much. That beer is fabulous.

    Fermenting saison

So you're saying it sounds like a stupid idea; I kind of thought so anyway. I guess i just figured that it runs all the time anyway, so what the heck. Thanks for the help.

    Fermenting saison

It won't hurt my feelings if someone just tells me this is a stupid idea. I want to brew a saison and use my jacuzzi to maintain the fermentation temperature. I would clean it very carefully first and only use a glass fermenter, maybe even run a silicone bead around the bottom of the carboy...
