Thanks for the help. Going to bottle it today, the FG ended up dropping a couple of points since 3 days ago, but its at the predicted FG of the recipe now.

3 weeks of fermenting and still not ready??

I just prepared everything for bottling, pulled out my lemongrass beer which was brewed just under 3 weeks ago. (Assumed it would be ready) Noticed that the airlock was bubbling once/every 30secs still. This concerned me so I checked the gravity and it was 1.015. My sheet says it should be...

    Help with understanding recipe

Not getting a response from the original thread. Have all of the ingredients sitting here ready to brew, but I have no idea if I want to shoot for 5.5 gallons of wort or 6 gallons of wort. I think its 6, but maybe this means 6 after you add lime aid. (you add half gallon lime aid on day 3 of...

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

I think Midwest didn't have the hefe IV yeast. Rebel brewer had everything but the white wheat malt (they were out of stock) so I had to compromise and order light wheat malt. My first all grain beer is turning into a headache and I haven't even started brewing! Took me a lot of searching to...

    What type of pale malt

Want to order the ingredients for my first all grain batch. Scratching my head on what type of pale malt to get. Ingredients for this recipe (Lemon-lime hefe) call for pale malt, but there must be a dozen types of pale malt to choose from. Is there a standard choice? Should I go with the...

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

Went to northern brewer and found all but sorachi ace. I searched it and Falconer's® Flight Hop Pellets came up. The description seems similar to sorachi so I think I'm going to go ahead and order everything from northern brewery. This day and age you wouldn't think it would be so hard to find...

Would like to brew this one soon, but am having a hard time finding everything I need off of one site. Anybody know of a site where I can find both the hops and yeast for this recipe?

    Berry Weiss Clone

I tried the sunset wheat clone from AHS. It was OK not as good as the real thing. I think if you uped the amount of sunset wheat flavoring, which is .75oz blueberry extract, .25oz raspberry extract it would be closer to a berry weise/ sunset wheat. This is what I plan on trying, also instead of...

    What's too cold for WL400?

I have been using my basement for storing all of my bottled beer. Normally it is at 65F and this has worked fine for my first couple batches. Lately it has been sitting at 58-62F and I just added two Belgian beers made with WL400 down there. Is this too cold? It says the ideal temp is more like...

    Lager with Kolsch yeast?

I'm using Kolsch wyeast to brew a light lager. Because that's all I could get from the LBS. I've had it at 55F for 3 weeks now and am playing with the idea of lagering it at 40 F for another couple weeks. I'm wondering if I will get any benefit from doing this or if I should just go ahead and...

    Thaw Your Hose

This is how I always thaw my wort. I just stick the kettle in a snow bank for 20 minutes. Works great!

    Washing yeast/ layers not forming

This is my second time washing yeast. My first time worked great, everything matched what I saw in pictures posted on this site I washed a safe ale 05. however, this time I am trying to wash a WL400 and the trub layer isn't forming. Last week I tried washing the yeast from the primary. The...

Can I use a 5 gallon carboy for my starter

I should of done that first thing. Instead I shook it to see if they would go away and they did. I think I'm going to use it. After looking at some of the other threads regarding white spots it seems that it was likely yeast colonies.
