Brew stand build. Couple of questions and advice needed

I just paid $268 for 40 feet of 2x2x.120 304SS. I am lucky and have a TIG welder to weld it so that only cost me about $25 in 308L rod for the welder. So all in on the frame I am about $300. I went SS for the exact reasons you mentioned, I didn't want to keep having to coat it, or worry about it...

    BG14 Orifice Size Question

So I am in the middle of my Brutus10 clone build, and have hit my first snag with the burners. This will be a LP NG build, so I bought the BG-14 burners from here: https://www.proflow-dynamics.com/products/homebrew-hardware/homebrew-burners/banjo-burner.html And then bought the NG orifices from...

Clarityferm for gluten free - extra filtering?

I have done 4 batches for a gluten intolerant friend and he has had no issues. Now I throw it in every batch regardless. I have never filtered a batch. I typically either cold crash of the style requires clear beer, like a kolsch, or just transfer from primary right in to the keg and let it...

Saison Boulevard Smokestack Series Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale Clone

You're advice on the blowout saved me. I almost didn't hook up a blow-off tube to my bucket, but have a speidel as well I can appreciate how agressive the yeast (3787) must be to have a blowout. I had Krausen pouring out of the tube within 6 hours. I hit a similar OG of 1074, so we will see...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

So I just did a fresh install of raspian and brewpi and it still fails on the update of the controller software due to not being able to connect. I checked and it sees /dev/ttyAMC0. I do have a wireless dongle plugged in, could that be throwing off anything?

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

I agree, and it must not be that difficult since it doesn't seem to be a common problem. I have checked and the arduino does show up as TTYACM0, and I have keyboards and wireless dongles in the USB ports without problems. I will go ahead and reload the raspian software and start over based on...

HOWTO - Make a BrewPi Fermentation Controller For Cheap

Ok, so I am bowing out and asking for help. I have been fighting getting my setup running for 2 weeks and 2 arduino boards. I have my raspberry pi running, have installed brewpi without problems, but no matter what I do I cannot get brewpi to connect to the arduino board (either of them, or with...

Any hunters reload their own ammo?

The rockchucker would be a fantastic press to start with. Even if he upgrades to a progressive, he will still use it to load precision rifle rounds. I have an old RCBS junior press that has to be at least that old. They are good presses and will always have a place on the bench.

Any hunters reload their own ammo?

I still have two single stage presses, I think everyone needs at least one. I started with a RCBS Jr SS, and then upgraded to a lee single stage (the classic I believe, and about the only lee product I would recommend besides dies) when I had to resize military 30-06 cases. For reloading...

Any hunters reload their own ammo?

What would you upgrade in the linked kit? It has the hand primer, electronic scale/dispenser, and trimmer? The only upgrade I could see would be going to a turret or a progressive.

Any hunters reload their own ammo?

That looks like a solid kit, but IMO it seems overkill to start with. The electronic powder dispenser is driving that price up considerably. I would recommend a kit like the following: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/937051/rcbs-rock-chucker-supreme-master-single-stage-press-kit Same press...

American Amber Ale Hoppy American Amber or Malty American Pale Ale?

I think I used flaked oats. I want to brew it again with the golden naked oats and to improve my flameout hop addition. I think I added it when the sort was just done boiling instead of letting it cool to 180 or so which I have seen recommended.

    Cleaning Fermentation Buckets

I do a hot soak with OxyClean which gets off all the krausen and stuff from the batch and then rinse with warm water. Prior to using again I sanitize with starsan and have had no problems.
