Hello, this is my first time going for a pilsner and I've never done a cool fermentation before in a fridge.
Chose a popular Urquell clone on Brewfather and made the wort like usual and nearly everything went according to plan, it took a a while to chill the wort but nothing major. Hit...
Blowoff tube on fermenter, surprisingly there's no activity through the tube though. Signs of fermentation are active and hydrometer shows there's fermentation.
I had about 8.71 gallons of water in my mash and about 7 - 7.5 ish in my boil. Ended up boiling it down to 6 I believe. I included my hops in my fermenter and it's close to full. If I had not scaled down the recipe the boil would've had to be a lot longer. Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks for the advice. I'm doing the Sierra Nevada pale ale clone on Brewfather as it was the best reviewed. I ended up doing no sparge, I just reweighed my ingredients and scaled it down. It's probably better I did though because my fermenter was pretty full. Ended up turning out well with...
I'm new to all grain. I'm about to make my first batch of beer and bought everything I needed. I knew the recipe brewed about 6 gallons of beer but I completely forgot to check the pre boil volume which is about a gallon and a half more than my kettle can hold, and my mash tun only can hold 10...
Near me we have a huge grocery store that has products from tons of different countries. Luckily they've had entire sugar cane plants there and they're good quality too. I made a soda from one since I've always preferred sugar cane drinks to just regular sugar.
Don't know, I bought a lid and new O rings for the keg last night and they fit perfectly fine. Cleaned up the inside with PBW and boiling water and it's shiny and ready to rock.
If you like the taste of the water then there's no issue brewing with it. The two beers I made before buying water salts and such tasted good, and that's with Cincinnati water which isn't horrible but is generally hard. It's only an issue when you want to try and perfect your beer.
Thanks! Going to the home brew store after school. Looking forward to kegging as I bottled the first batch I ever made and I really don't enjoy it. I like it for presentation but the sedement in the bottom ruins it for me since I don't like bottling just to pour it into a glass regardless. It...
Lmao. My twin brother mentioned the same thing. He works at a nice steakhouse in the area. Told me they have hundreds of them in the basement. He didn't even know they could be used for beer.
