    Cigar City Jai Alai Clone

Forgive me. Can someone help me through something in this grain bill? I haven't brewed in a couple years, and my memory suggested that I check with the source when it's ambiguous on this end. 1. Munich I refers to a light (8-11L) 2-row grain, and NOT CaraMunich I, correct? 2. "60L" refers to...

BeerSmith - BeerTools - Promash. - Which is best? What do you have?

Yes! Using it on Mountain Lion right now. I lost all my profiles and recipes in the upgrade so backup before your go from Lion to Mountain Lion. I also needed to re-authenticate my license for some reason. Regardless, it works fine on 10.8. Cheers, MD

BeerSmith - BeerTools - Promash. - Which is best? What do you have?

I have it for the Mac - and everything is fantastic. Even in the most recent upgrade (with the new cloud component), it's seamless. You'll be happy. I have this and iBrewmaster (for the iPad/iPhone), and this is great. I still use iB when I'm out and have an "aha!" moment, but I plug it all...

    Cold crash before bottling?

Thanks guys, I didn't want to overdo it if I did. Again, I was just concerned about the amount of trub in the primary so I did it for about 24 hours. I'll bottle today and let you know how it goes :) Thanks again! Matt

    Cold crash before bottling?

I have a Belgian witbier that I brewed using White Labs' wlp072 http://www.whitelabs.com/beer/strains_wlp072.html - and it was the most flocculent beer I ever made... I can assume I had a ton of proteins and trub, but the wort remained very hazy and inconsistent. I know a wit is supposed to be...

    Belgian Strong Ale Idea

...And here it is. Did some grain testing and some reading about yeast; here's to hoping it turns out. Brew day tomorrow, the yeast are in the erlenmeyer flask even as I write! I'll let you know how it all goes; that Aromatic malt is something special, for sure!! Matt Recipe: Clover Ridge...

    Belgian Strong Ale Idea

Thanks for the reply and good advice... I'm totally "down" with replacing the Pilsner (not that I'd be too worried about DMS when it's only 17% of the bill), but I really don't like to do a 90m boil if I don't have to. I never heard of Special B, and after doing a little reading and checking...

    Belgian Strong Ale Idea

Hi all, I'd like to first give you some background - this is only my 2nd all-grain brew, so I'm trying to keep it simple (as I don't have someone experienced to brew with). At any rate, I already have a 50 pound bag of Canadian 2-Row so I'd like for that to be the lion's share of my grain...

    Cheers from IL

Hi all, My name's Matt - I've been brewing for about 6 months and I've got "the disease". I've lurked for advice and expertise; most everything's been said. Either way, glad to be around, and look forward to some great dialogue! Sláinte!

    Summer Shandy

To the OP - you may want to do some searching for Steigl Radler clones as well - those are a bit more internationally widespread, and are the inspiration for leine's shandy... IMHO, they are more refreshing, too :)

My Fortune for One 5/8" Stainless Steel Fender Washer!

In the upper Midwest theres a chain called Menard's and they had 6 packs of 5/8" stainless flat washers for $1.50 or so. My only issue is that I can't get the hose barb and ball valve far enough onto the nipple for the 10 gallon tun unless I use like 9 washers, and the whole thing is too narrow...

My Fortune for One 5/8" Stainless Steel Fender Washer!

Thanks guys... I can get the stainless kit for the inside- no problem- but I'd rather use the 5/8 zinc coated on the outside for the wider fender flare. So... Stainless inside and zinc outside is okay? MD

My Fortune for One 5/8" Stainless Steel Fender Washer!

But can the OUTSIDE washers be Zinc? The only required stainless washer is what is on the inside w/the wort, correct? I can only assume that as long as the seal around the nipple is good, then the outside washers never touch moisture (aside from possible condensation). Thanks for the help...
