evilTOJ your signature really speaks to me, or more specifically about me to my soon to be wife.

    Attention PDX area hop gardeners!

Sorry this is only slightly related. My Rhizomes are in Pittsburgh. Though I guess I do know someone who grows out their. Does anyone in PDX know of a nearby hops farm you can tour. I will be out in a bit in August.

    growing hops from rooftop

I do not think that they will cooperate with growing down. Maybe if the pot is upside down! I would just build a trellis. I have had good luck with cascade in a pot definitely can be done.

a 3 gallon batch mashed in a 10 gallon cooler

I do 2gallon/5lb batches like this with no trouble in a large cooler. I don't have a false bottom though, more of a sketchy set up with a dryer screen. I tend to keep adding some hot water along the way to keep my temp up.

    Home Brewish Taste

"extract in general" I know much less then anyone else posting here but I agree that almost all beers I made with extract had this "homebrew" flavor that I did not like. It was a malty sort. maybe carmel/toffee is a good description. since I switched to AG I will not go back. not to say a better...

    Oven drying?

I could really use a dryer for herbs too. But $100 is alot for me with only three hops plants. still tempting....

    Oven drying?

I may have to invest in that if I get a good harvest next year.

    Oven drying?

I ended up doing the oven method. just sit a cookie tray on the floor of the oven of the pilot light heat them slowly for a few days.

    hops in pots?

Oh and the other question is if I should bring it inside for the winter? or maybe bury the pot or do something else to insulate it.
