    Contaminated Mash Tun?

I did wash before I brewed, that's what I can't figure out. I soaked it in hot PBW for an hour, washed and rinsed it, and sanitized it just before mash (since it hasn't been used in a while) -D

    Contaminated Mash Tun?

I haven't brewed for 6+ months due to moving. Finally got things started and washed out my mash tun with PBW and hot water before starting to preheat and clean it. When I mashed in, I got an incredible smell of Lacto off the mash. I admit, its been a while since I brewed and maybe that's...

    Beersmith

I actually bought Beersmith before I even bought my brewing equipment. Best money I've spent in terms of overall quality and control of my brewing in my opinion. -D

    Cleaning Racking Canes & Tubing

Morebeer has brushes on really long wires designed to fit tubing. I've found them very useful if I don't get them rinsed well immediatly after brewing for whatever reason. -D

    Tasting Vs. Drinking?

Do you pay yourself a token when you pull to that line? =) (Or 4 tokens for 12oz) -D

Do you only drink what you brew??

Hell no. =) For one, I don't have the equipment and setup to do nifty things like authentic lambics and flanders sour beers. Beyond that though, I've found I'm drinking more and more styles that I never would have touched before as potential brews I can make myself later. Research is...

    all grain pots

As long as you figure out your evaporation rates, I don't think it matters much. I've found I need to run off 8 gallons of wort for a 90 minute boil to get the correct volume, but now that its dialed in its no big deal. (I use a fairly wide kettle) -D

    Anyone Brewing? - 11-30-2007

Georgetown. It was definitely a chilly experience, but at least I got my beer made and spent the rest of the day inside where its warm and I could enjoy some homebrew without freezing my nuts off. =) -D

Honing your recipes by limiting your brews

I've brewed my Witbier a number of times with only minor changes, mostly because its my most popular beer (probably the most accessible too). Otherwise, I've never brewed the same beer twice, although I'd like to go back and try some of the ones I did when I first started brewing and see if I...

    Anyone Brewing? - 11-30-2007

Brewing an all Simcoe IPA. Outside. In the snow. Its cold, and I managed to squirt myself with my garden hose while cleaning my mash tun. -D

    Brutus Ten ????

Good to have you here! I've been eyeballing your Brutus 10 plans for a while, and when I finally went to go buy them, there wasn't a link anybody and I had to buy BYO instead. =) It wouldn't look quite as shiny, but plain old steel seems like it should work just fine and dandy, and save me...

    Brutus Ten ????

I've read a few calculations that state that doing step mashes with a RIMS/HERMS setup is difficult because the rise time is extremely long compared to a direct fired tun, but I can't find the page where I saw that now. -D

What do YOU use to do AG?

10g igloo cooler w/ perforated plastic false bottom 10g SS kettle with SS false bottom and welded ball valve 7.5g Al turkey fryer pot w/ weldless ball valve as HLT crappy immersion chiller My porch plus a wooden stool makes a great 3-tier setup for now. I'll probably hold off on upgrading...
