Is Cold crashing then warming bad

I had an Eis Bock this year from a friend that he had brewed it years ago. It had sat in his unconditioned garage for many years. Warm/Hot summers and cold frozen Wisconsin winters. It was great and one of the best aged beers I've had from a homebrewer. To be honest I now think that...

    Chugger Pump Ticking/Clicking

Easy? Not that I can see. There are 4 folded metal tabs that are crimped on (you can see two of them at the "2 & 10 o'clock" positions).

    Chugger Pump Ticking/Clicking

Yes, I separated the plastic shroud away from the magnet and plugged it in. Same sound. It is in the back of the pump and the shaft doesn't slide in or out. Just rotating the magnet I can faintly hear a minor "rub" for every rotation. But, its not coming from the fan blades.

    Chugger Pump Ticking/Clicking

Yea, I know both March and Chugger have had their issues. But, you'd think that there would be more of a concern on fixing this sort of issue. It's clearly mechanical. I just want to know if its feasible or worth my time trying to fix this myself. I too hope to warn people that before...

    Chugger Pump Ticking/Clicking

Okay boys and girls. I've had a progressing problem with a pump that I purchased from an online retailer. I've had it now going on 7 months and only used it for vorlaufing 6 batches of beer for about 10 minutes each batch. Once I had received the pump I had used 3-1 machine oil and added 3...

    Cedar Wood in Secondary?

It's great to see everyone trying cedar in their different beers. I too have access to copious amounts of cedar shavings, chunks, planks and boards. I'm hoping to make a batch of beer to present back to the owners of the lumber company what Western Red Cedar can do for beer. The biggest...

    15 Gallon Fermenter Table Build

I understand that you have the valve open to get the first batch of yeast/junk (Primary). But once you clean it out and re-attach it and open it again to collect the (Secondary) yeast/junk; are you not opening up and allowing a 1-2quart air/oxygen bubble to pass through the leftovers and...

    Elderberry wine Grunge

I also have this problem. At first I thought something was dissolving my plastic spoon. After I stirred my elderberry wine for 2 minutes it was immediately covered with the stuff. It seriously looks like it attacks the plastic. I did put a tsp of pectic enzyme in there for the one gallon...
