    love controller ~ cycle time

My setup usually runs for 6 minutes an hour, but I've changed the freezer and want to make sure it doesn't run any longer than 6 minutes. Can this be done by setting the cycle time to 6, i.e. does the cycle time mean the run time? ~~~ Hold [set] for 8 seconds when the [probe temperature] is...

Inexpensive (but good) reverse osmosis system?

The following is from the spectrapure site. http://www.spectrapure.com/SYSTEM_BREAKDOWN.htm A Carbon Filter also has specific ratings that range from 5, 1 and 0.5. Each rating determines how much chlorine is removed in gallons of water. The 5 micron can remove chlorine for up to 6,000 gal...

Inexpensive (but good) reverse osmosis system?

Either of those should be fine. Yes, I got a replacement membrane from Ebay for $28 that is excellent with a 98 percent reduction (360 to 7 tds), much better than the one that came with the system. The PW system in your link is a countertop model, and the BR system goes under the counter, and...

    Another TSS2 controller box build

Thanks much for the helpful information! This one has tabs on both sides. Do I break off both of them? This is great, will make it easier to find a good box.

    Another TSS2 controller box build

I went to homedepot today, and have a few questions. 1) I've been under the perhaps false impression that one set of outlets could be divided into a) one switched and b) one always on. However each set on here (as photo below) is used for identical purposes. Can a set not be divided, with...

Inexpensive (but good) reverse osmosis system?

Yes I definitely feel that's a bad idea. I can see adding a balance of minerals to RO permeate if desired, but not the contaminants contained in water from the tap. A lot of people do though and that's a personal choice. Happy now. :) I reserve the right to edit my posts. ;)

Okay then. :mug: Tap Water Contaminants - partial list Microbial contaminants, such as viruses and bacteria, from sewage treatment plants, septic systems, agricultural livestock operations and wildlife; Inorganic contaminants, such as salts and metals, naturally occurring or resulting from...

Inexpensive (but good) reverse osmosis system?

The ratio does not change when you're using a permeate pump. Yes, that's right, IF you want the water to be pure. If the water is already pure coming from a good well then you don't need an RO system. That is very unlikely though. Certainly I would not run it through RO and then add...

EBay fish tank controller build using Wal-mart parts

My love controller gets 100 degrees, which depending on use, may or may not make a difference.

Inexpensive (but good) reverse osmosis system?

The ratio should be 3:1, no higher than that. This is easy to test. If you're losing more than 3:1, the flow restrictor needs adjustment or replacement. In addition to this, a permeate pump is a must have item for an RO system. There's no good reason to add tap water back to pure RO water.

Where do you get the labels, do they come with the wall plate?

    ebay aquarium temp controller build

It turns out my chest box is 1.5 amps, so it probably wouldn't even turn on a solid state relay. Thanks much for your reply. If I'm reading it right, the sampling cycle of the tm7100rac85dc260v PID is 4 times a second, compared to the STC-1000 of 1 time a minute. That seems like quite a...

    ebay aquarium temp controller build

Awesome! That's what I'm going to do. Thanks for your comments. Very helpful! :mug: Is the STC-1000 as good as a PID controller? Would adding an SSR be helpful even if the controller is rated for higher than the draw?

    ebay aquarium temp controller build

Thanks. I don't need to see the set temp all the time, but wouldn't mind getting a dual if it ran a 2nd device, or at least showed room temperature. The tcqbn2006p listing states "The Controller can be set to control two separate devices at the same time.", which indicates this is possible...
