To put it in context Spotless Water charge 3.9p per litre for RO water compared to £1.40 for 5L of Ashbeck so it is a no brainer to get the RO water at this price. Just wanted to hear if anyone else is using it.
Has no one in UK here heard of them or used this water?
I am looking for a source of RO water in UK and have only found a company called Spotless Water. Has anyone used their water for home brewing? they seem to advertise mainly for window cleaners etc. They say their water is not fit for consumption unless adding back water salts.
Has anyone...
Seems that now it has dropped clear that the banana ester has gone. I should have just waited for four to six weeks lagering. I split the batch between two ten-litre kegs so will leave one for Christmas. 🍻
The instructions on the packet suggest that dry pitching into up to 23L of wort is sufficient. I will double down next time though.
Now the first couple of pints have gone the beer is clearing up and the banana is fading a bit.
Hi, so I have tried to produce a Czech style pilsner but it currently has a bit of banana ester flavour to it.
I cooled wort to 13C and pitched a single packet of Mangrove Jacks M76 Bavarian Lager Yeast straight on top of the wort. (Clearly underpitched, oops!).
It took several days to get...
Yeah good call, I did a guiness clone not too long ago and it had combined roasted barley and chocolate malt around 15%. It was a bit too much roastiness but I agree I have cut these too much so they won't come through enough. I will take your advice, cheers.
I had planned to just put some rice hulls in to stop any risk of getting stuck. I am sure someone else can give some better guidance on a step mash with a beta-glucan rest. My understanding is that you mash in at a lower temp and hold it there for 20 mins or so in order to break up the...
So in the end I switched things up entirely and went with Voss Kweik yeast (fermented at 35-40c, not 20c as stated in screenshots). Not quite a double but came out well around 7%. Very tasty, if a little rushed as it went from grain to glass in a week! all finished on the day though and provided...
Hi everyone,
I plan to brew my first imperial stout! ..here is what I have come up with using ingredients I have to hand. Any feedback on proportions welcomed. Also is my choice of yeast ok? I noticed it will return quite a high final gravity so expect the final result to be on the sweeter side...
Thanks for the quick reply! yes it is a 20L batch. Edit: I will stick with two then as both of you agreeing this will be enough. Would you up the yeast nutrient to 3 packs also? (6g sachets). cheers 🍻
Hi, I am planning a double IPA, (recipe attached). I have not brewed one before, can I get away with two packets of S-05 rehydrated or do I need to make a yeast starter?
Thanks.
