    Bar Top Keezer Build

If you scroll up through the thread, there were a number of different photos posted; but here's a couple showing how it's set up. The collar is two separate assemblies: the lower half are 2x4s and stay fixed on the freezer (the freezer hinges are just used to attach: they don't pivot at all)...

What do I need for my first keezer build?

Definitely go with a dual body regulator if you can; definite plus to have separate line for force carbing. Also start with 10' lines (or longer) and cut them back as needed. I started with 10' and cut them back to about 8'. You can alway lop a foot off if flow rate is a problem. Put together...

    CO2 Tubing?

I use 3/16 thick wall line all around (beverage and gas). Makes it easier just dealing with one size of barbed swivel fittings, and I can keep extra fittings on hand. Can also buy tubing in bulk and use for either.

    Co2 Regulators

I have a dual regulator, with one line feeding into a 4-way manifold. That allows me to run one at higher pressure (for force carbonating, also for running a soda tap), and the manifold runs at dispensing pressure. I'm saving up to swap out the dual regulator for a bank of 3 secondary...

    Hops Destroyed by Hail Storm

Update: 14 days later, and definite signs of life! The Hallertau is still looking pretty wiped out, but the bines all look to be healthy, and there are new lateral buds that have formed. I'm not expecting to harvest any hops at all, but it should at least finish out the growing season. For...

    Hops Destroyed by Hail Storm

Yup, insurance will cover, waiting to hear if they'll replace it all or just the two sides impacted. But I just realized that I'm going to need to dismantle the hop trellises so they can replace the siding on that side. So I may just be cutting everything down and let any new growth just mound...

    Hops Destroyed by Hail Storm

Yes, I cut them back to the ground and mulch them over after the first hard frost, but that's after they'd had a full growing season to store energy down into the rhizome for the following spring. I'm worried that the rhizomes will be pretty much spent by the end of this year, and won't have...

    Hops Destroyed by Hail Storm

Google information on a 'hop oast' for building a hop drier (I assume there are also threads on this site). Here are some pics of the one I had built. It has three trays, and uses the fan unit from an old dehydrator. It usually takes me 18 - 24 hours to dry three full trays (I rotate trays...

    Hops Destroyed by Hail Storm

The Cascade (the nearest hop mound, with the two trellises) has been established a good eight years (I've had to split the rhizome twice); the Hallertau in the back I had growing elsewhere, and transplanted it three or four seasons ago. For comparison purposes, here's a photo from a previous...

    Hops Destroyed by Hail Storm

We had a major hail storm roll through yesterday that completely decimated my hop trellises (as well as punching several hundred holes in my siding). The hops will be a complete write-off for this season, but I'm hoping to get something to survive over the rest of the growing season to get some...

That would be SWMBO, the force behind this whole project ;)

    Bar Top Keezer Build

So, an update. I've been picking up additional hardware here and there as it went on clearance, and just received the last of my Black Friday / Cyber Monday acquisitions yesterday (the last of what I needed for my nitro tap). Attached are some photos of the current setup. I put in my soda...

    Bar Top Keezer Build

This is the stuff that I went with. I was expecting the lid to come in pretty heavy, with the wood slabs and 2x6 lumber, so I thought I should go as dense as possible. However, if there is a step lower than 'Super Firm' I would probably suggest going with that. This stuff barely compresses...

    Bar Top Keezer Build

Thanks, we've been quite pleased with how the entire basement makeover came out, and the keezer is definitely the centerpiece. I'll need to post updated pics this weekend: I finally got my antler tap handles made, and just tonight got my Black Friday package; I've got a nitro setup to get...

    Bar Top Keezer Build

Yes, it's a dense foam weatherstripping, and it ended up being a lot denser than I expected. I was expecting it to compress, and was worried about getting the hinges attached. I added 125 lbs of weight to the bartop to try and compress it before attaching the hinges, but it didn't make a...
