This was the debate I waged with myself and ultimately went with the Harbor Freight punches because I could buy ~4 sets for the cost of 1 Greenlee punch and was only punching aluminum. I planned to punch 1 hole and didn't see much need in the near future. On top of that (confession time)...
I use a Bayou Classic wooden stir/paddle with notches at the gallon marks (calibrated with room temperature water added a gallon at a time) to accomplish this. It's accurate enough for my needs, and I use the paddle through mash and boil (time will tell how it holds up I suppose). I think the...
I bought the Harbor Freight punches and used the smallest one (1/2", which makes a 7/8" hole) to punch for a BargainFittings weldless fitting. Perfect fit.
Keenly interested in your results. I'm planning a similar mechanism on my chamber to allow for 2 vessels lined up. My concern has been the whole chamber tipping forward when it's pulled out. Securing it to the wall would be an easy fix though, I guess.
Out of curiosity, do Urbana pick-ups still happen? Much easier for me to swing by Urbana than TP these days.
Few projects to wrap up and I'll have nothing left to do but actually brew haha.
AB contactor gone.
I'll get rid of this stuff yet!
Bunch of 10/3 (2 hot, neutral, ground) Romex left. Shipping is likely a pain, but we can figure it out.
I'll repost item lists later this week, PM or email with questions in the meantime.
Dryer cords and locknut gone.
Everything else is still available. Mostly odds and ends at this point, but hey someone probably has a need for the same random stuff I did!

This laptop cooling pad may also be an option. Same price point as the Thermaltake. Likely significantly lower quality, but might be a good option to adapt to stir plate duties.
I'm planning to switch my stir plate...
Awesome input, thanks!
Like i said, I knew this wasn't an original idea. Cool to see others implementing similar ideas.
I may look into a self-contained aquarium heater/cooler for coolant temp control to keep the footprint down. 5g batches shouldn't require too big of a cooling system (AC...
Thanks for the reply, definitely valuable info!
