I've been bottling beer for a while now with generally good results. The general rule I follow each time is that I wait a minimum of 2 weeks for the beers to carb and obviously condition.
However, because I'm impatient and thirsty and start drinking on day 14. In the first early bottles, I...
After my first full year of brewing, I now have a lot of different speciality grains and hops left over.
Looking through a bunch of recipes, I don't seem to have enough of one thing or another for a complete recipe....what do I do at this stage?
Thanks for your suggestions!
I've never had an infected batch before....could this be my first?
I did forget to sterilize my wort chiller before using it, so that's what has me worried.
Note: I did dry hop, so I'm not sure if it's just hops on the surface.
Please tell me....toss or save?
Thanks.
Hello All,
Normally I brew small 4gal batches (BIAB) in my 8gal kettle - because of the smaller batch size, I can comfortably fill enough water in my kettle + grain bill without it all overflowing for the mash.
Tomorrow, I want to aim for my first 5gal batch and after running the calculations...
Thanks for your comments...
After about 48 hours I started to see some action! It was definitely a lot slower than what I've seen whilst fermenting beer for sure.
After 6 days, I followed a schedule I found online to ramp up the temp to approx 67°f in 8° increments every 12 hours. After 2...
I pitched 1 pack of liquid yeast...but I did make a starter from it first.
Hopefully it's enough [emoji2957]
The airlock is bubbling now...but if I did pitch less yeast than I should have....will that have a different effect on the fermentation?
I've just brewed my first Lager and placed in my chest freezer at 54°f.
Now...what should I expect to see with the airlock? Will it eventually bubble as vigerously as a beer, or will it bubble very slowly? And how long should it take before it does begin to bubble and pop?
Thanks!

About to brew my first Lager this weekend...very excited!
I normally make small batches of beer of about 4gals and never make a starter. I'll be making my usual 4gals of lager.
Do I need to make a starter for lager, or can simply pitch my yeast as normal?
Thanks!
