    Stainless fire extinguisher fermemter/keg

Does anyone have any experience using 2.5gl stainless fire extinguishers as legs or fermenters? I looked on Google and here and have found very little on how or if it works. I shot a fireworks show on the fourth and realized all the extinguishers we had on the shoot site could be used in this...

    what happened to my brew?!

to add one last bit of detail to the story, the beer tasted almost exactly like this years 2012 Sierra Nevada Summerfest. Just got some and realized how they tasted the same. that's it.

False bottom, manifold, s/s tube... What about s/s ball bearings?

This is splendid. putting the rocks/ bearings in a bag would keep you from stirring them into the grain. just a thought. kudos.

rain water = soft water and higher extraction rates?

So your saying the water would not have anything to do with my increased efficiency but would leave a more alkaline profile and over all higher ph? chemistry is not my strong suit.

rain water = soft water and higher extraction rates?

I'm specifically describing malt/ starch extraction and conversion. I had 82% efficiency up from 72%. It got my attention.

rain water = soft water and higher extraction rates?

I brewed this weekend and used rain water for mash and sparge. I don't have a reliable way to easily check ph. I'm curious if rain wanter (soft acidic water) aids in extraction rates. Also, have you/can I use soft water for mash and sparge then treat the wort pre boil to harden it up for...
