My buddy has had issues with Big Mouth Bubble, which is the same type of thing. Just make sure the bung is really in there. Never had issues with the lid.
So, I wanted to add Servo to my beer but forgot to add during the boil. Should I just toss a capsule in the primary, cut open and toss contents into primary or create a little "starter" to boil for 15 minutes?
I went through a phase where all I wanted to do was try something different and a bit crazy. Some of the things I've tried, and their results:
- Shogun IPA: A Japanese inspired IPA with green tea, ginger, rice and all Sorachi Ace Hops. Result: Failure. Not sure what happened, but I really...
Anyone have an idea of when Chicago will post? They're the only place left that hasn't posted. Was actually worried my beers didn't arrive because my buddy got his score sheets in the mail yesterday and an email a week ago with status.
I think he sent to Kansas City.

Thanks guys. Hazelnut is pretty light because I was playing it safe with the extract. I was worried that the OG and FG were too high for Robust Porter so that's why I thought 23.

I am entering an 8.5% ABV Robust Porter with Hazelnut flavor and I can't decide if I want to enter 12B (Robust Porter), 12C (Baltic Porter because of higher ABV), or 23 ("Imperial" Porter has no home).
Can't seem to find a definitive answer anywhere. Thanks!
I don't have any proof outside of experience and the countless tales I've read from others (who have proof). But, yes, full boil will better utilize hops than a half boil. It just means that if you are doing an extract kit that uses 1 oz of hops, it will extract more acids in a 6 gallon boil...
If this is hops flavored hard candy, it's pretty terrible. I love my hops and all, but all alone with nothing else to compliment it was inedible. Spit it out after about 20 seconds.
