    do hops have lateral secondary growth?

    Will hops send out lateral shoots? Or are these the start of cone production? I ask because its still early in the season so kinda seems unlikely to be cones, also its a first year Columbus plant and is only about 4 feet long. Any wisdom from seasoned growers is appreciated

    Hops growing past top of trellis

    If you trim them I think it will impact your yield negatively since the top of the plant produces the most. Maybe next year consider like a criss cross trellis, cause u may have no choice but to trim dependant on your space
