Figure it out... It was the pitch rate setting.

Hey guys.
I'm starting a new Summer project -- I'm brewing a collection of one-hop IPA's using a different hop for each brew.
The grain bills and yeast and brew method are the same for each brew, but I came upon variations in my pitch rates for two current IPAs; Columbus (15) and...
I've brewed NB's Caribou Slobber, and siphoning to secondary is not crucial. But I do recommend it.
Secondary or not to secondary...
Secondary is mostly used to clear the beer and isolate it for adding flavorings/dryhops. It also takes the beer off the yeast, which many...
I use an 8gal pot and rest the grain bag on top of a large strainer for a minute or two. Then I transfer the strainer&bag to a separate bucket/pot to drain its lifeblood. I usually sparge in the bucket while the kettle heats up to boil temp.
I mothballed my cooler tun after going BIAB. The BIAB method is my #1 choice, and ironically I've hit my OG every time doing it that way. It is funny tho, last brew I was aiming for 4gals ~ OG1.077 and got 3.5gals ~ OG1.077. Worked for me. My only challenge is moving/sparging the grain bag...
Not a problem. It's happened to all of us from time to time.
I think if you start messing with DME post-boil, you will mess it up completely!
You can solve this problem very easily. Brew another partial extract batch, and aim for an OG of 1.080. Then mix your 1.080 beer with your 1.030 beer...
Basic wine fermenters are usually 6.5 Imp gallon buckets (or 7.9 US gallons). Basic wine kits usually only need 6 gallons, so...
If you are tight on budget, use your beer fermenter for your first (prob need only 6 gallons of space). Trade off is the scent of beer in the bucket, rather than...
I brew these clone recipes for Stone all the time, and I recently came up short on a 3gal all-grain batch for the Pale Ale. So I started up a new 3gal batch from extract to mix-in (w/ extra fermentables), aiming to bring the beer up to proper ABV% of 5.5% (pale ale) or 6.9% (IPA). I married...
Spot on. I agree. I am a big BBQ guy. In fact, I BBQ about 4-5x every week. That's right! 70% of my meals are cooked on the grill or BBQ using charcoal/wood.
I used to love gas in apt living, but once I went old school, I never went back to gas. Gas is only good for grilling burgers...
Craigtube uses a green garden hose.
Why don't you just draw a glass from the tap and from the hose and do a taste/chem test.
Also, a local OSH store will carry all the supplies needed to make your own food-grade hose with minimal labor, so I suggest that. My store has at least half dozen...
Okay, well I think this stuff is interesting. It has the same texture as DME, but apparently has the hops and the yeast. That excludes it for the dog.
Here it is...
Let the experiments begin...
I was buying some sausage making supplies online and I came upon this "Dried Beer Extract". First of all, hell yeah I'm ordering some of this. But can anyone expand on what else I could do with this stuff?
I'm using it in my sausage, and now I'm thinking of adding it to my homemade dog treats.
Just racked into secondary with 1oz Centennial and .5 oz of Chinook that I bought from freshops. I'll bottle in 6 days. I used WL -007 yeast started a day prior.
O.G. 1.062
Racked 1.018
My ABV is low, and my color is off. It tasted alright, but it's too light. I'm setting up for...
