    Beer Preference....

Maybe one day PA will drop the prohibition era alcohol control laws and some of this will take off. Last time it came up the Governor vetoed alcohol reform and direct to consumer shipment because it would "limit selection" by opening up all those product we could buy from anywhere in the nation.

How long to leave in primary?

Interesting discussion. To those that asked, the old malt and beer I produced, and pitched they yeast at a high temp is the one that is consistently confused with Sam Adams, but I can honestly tell a difference (now that I have a few other beers under my belt). Solid gold to anyone who is a PBR...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I think I've gone with mostly bags (in a box), some growlers, then a few bottles. Still and straight to bottling/bagging

    boxing wine

I did some more digging and found these. No box included: https://store.homebrewheaven.com/55-liter-wine-waiter-bag-p86.aspx

    boxing wine

I posted in the Apfelwine thread but now some research has me wondering. Has anyone found a solution for "bag in a box" boxed wine for home brew? I've got 3 full batches of apfelwein brewing, and when they're done I'd like to put some in growlers and some in wine boxes. Any thoughts?

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Anyone have any experience in bottling this, and preservation? Should I add in some sulfites or campden tablets for it to keep a year in the bottle?

    Beer Preference....

So, I've got three beers I've made pretty recently. I decided to see how I stacked up, because I will always be the biggest critic of my own stuff. Over this weekend I've taken several opportunities with friends (some of which didn't even know I brew) and about 10 blind taste tests against...

How long to leave in primary?

I tend to think this way as well, I'd just like to see the difference. Honestly, I pitched the yeast in my first beer WAY to hot. Like close to 90 degrees hot, and both the extract and yeast were over a year expired. Color turned a bit darker than expected but its actually really good and...

How long to leave in primary?

My house is temp controlled to 69 degrees, the kitchen where most fermentation occurs is usually 68-69. I may actually move this to another area for this batch in particular. My basement is slowly being renovated to be the primary brewing area and I wont have this issue. It's becoming my...

How long to leave in primary?

Hey everyone, I've done some reading and the answer seems to be "it okay" but I wanted to double check. timing may be an issue on the extract kit I'm about to brew. I'm goign to be away from home almost all of november. I'm planning on brewing tomorrow or friday, and it may not be done...

    Watermelon Wheat

Awesome, thanks for the education. I was wondering if it qualified as partial mash or not.

Why is it harder to do fresh grape juice than a kit

Just my .02 as someone who's played with hooch, kits and some actually grape wine production. $110 for a kit is pretty good but personally, I dont think I'd ever get any kit other than the "ultra premium" or top of the line kits, particularly those with the skins included. I have a super tuscan...

    Watermelon Wheat

Oh, also, this was one of those partial grain kits. There was a brew bag with some grains that I had to steep for awhile, the boil with some extract. I did this out on my back deck on a cold night while having a few drinks. It was wonderful

    Watermelon Wheat

It had an "all natural" (no ingredients listed) watermelon concentrate. A very small bottle that you dumped in along with the priming sugar at bottling. If you tasted that it was horrible. once it mixed in it gave just a faint smell and taste of watermelon. I'd prefer to go the real way as...

    Watermelon Wheat

Just wanted to post that I picked up a Brewers Best Watermelon wheat, did that up, followed the directions to the T. To cool it off, I let it set in the carboy, with a stopper, on my deck overnight. Let it ferment and sit for over a week. I bottled it a week ago and I couldnt stand it. I...
