Continually fail at set-it-and-forget it - Advice Please

Huh, never thought of doing a full submerge. In any case ... I think one of the biggest tasks for me at this point ... is to actually go and brew some brews WITHOUT an 'event' in mind that I need to be ready for. That way, I can try the 2 week test, and if it's not ready, start...

Continually fail at set-it-and-forget it - Advice Please

Naaa, Thanks for the idea, but I know it's not that one. When i've had failure, it's not that it's undercarbed. It's that there is ZERO carbonation. It comes out with a little head purely via agitation of serving, with HUGE bubbles, that dissappear within seconds. And then the beer is...

Continually fail at set-it-and-forget it - Advice Please

They read zero when the gas is off. But only if I purge them. They stay reading the last reading they were at (the highest reading) unless I purge. This applies to all my pressure gauges (all 4 of 'em) ... two of them have direct purge valves on them. Two don't and I have to either...

Continually fail at set-it-and-forget it - Advice Please

I will add, one unfortunate problem is that every time I'm brewing, it's for an event. So when my 3 weeks have passed and I'm not carb'd. I don't have another 3 weeks to just experiment and go: "OK, let's try a different regulator" or "Maybe it's just that one keg". And play with things...

Yup, in both the cold 10-12PSI, and the cellar 30PSI ... it's left on the whole time.

Cept I test all of them with water ... and this is over 6 different kegs.

Continually fail at set-it-and-forget it - Advice Please

Yup, I hit them with 30psi or so and seal it, then do the purge the air 5-6 times to make sure it's all CO2. I then test everything by pouring water over all the connections, if I have any bubbles, I reset and try again. Yes, as far as I know. I have had at least one case where a keg...

Continually fail at set-it-and-forget it - Advice Please

No, that's not it, because once I've burst carb'd, things work great, whether I'm using a picnic tap, my jocky box, my kegerator, or my beergun. But when doing setandforget, beer is just dead flat.

Continually fail at set-it-and-forget it - Advice Please

OK, that's a possibility. But, when I'm using the same connections to then burst carb? And that I've tried this again, and again, and again ...

Continually fail at set-it-and-forget it - Advice Please

Hey everyone, I've been around here for a long time, and brewing beer (and mead & wine & cider) for, well, like 17-18 years now. But only in the last couple, did I switch to doing kegs. Everything had been primed bottles before. My first kegs were just primed as well, because it was...

    Wiring for 'Basic' 220V eKettle

Thanks everyone. Let's see, a few responses: Which punch set is that? I looked at the Amazon cutter that Electric Brewing talked about, but wow, it is expensive for something that I'm going to use just a couple times. I'm guessing this one...

    Wiring for 'Basic' 220V eKettle

Yup, thanks jCOSbrew - Already looking into a Spa panel for GFCI. and either using the breaker on the spa panel as on/off. Or adding a dualpole switch into the box on the kettle. So basically what I'm looking at is: Spa subpanel (GFCI) - $50 3 prong appliance cord - $20? Camco Ripple...

    Wiring for 'Basic' 220V eKettle

replying to my own. But after the last post, I'm thinking that I was a little confused. And that the plug to my element should only be a 3 prong plug anyway. So basically the 4 wire would just go to the spa panel and the GFCI. But then I'd hook up a 3 wire plug, and just use a 3 wire cord...

    Wiring for 'Basic' 220V eKettle

Hey guys, thanks so much so far. Codfish, that ebay find seems perfect, cheap, preassembled with a heatsink, etc. Excited I'm getting close. But I think I'm still missing two pieces of knowledge here: 1) Looking at that box (I assume coming from china that it's not going to have any...

    Wiring for 'Basic' 220V eKettle

Hey everyone. So I've read (and read, and read) these forums for months now, and I'm ready to 'pull the trigger' on making myself an eKettle. But here's the catch. In reading these forums, it really seems that everyone goes one extreme or the other. Either they are making a very basic 120v...
