    Copper manifold when spigot is above bottom of cooler?

    Thanks guys. Is it recommended to level the manifold so it is level with the spigot or just allow it to lie at an angle?

    Equipment for first brew, it'll be AG

    I've only done about six brews -- 3 extract and 3 partial mash, but I would agree with the sentiment. Everyone whose lips have come in contact with what I've made so far has been very happy -- if you are going AG because you think an extract or partial will be inferior you should reconsider.

    Well, I took another hydrometer reading and it came out at about 1.020! Which means my ABV is right around 11.5%. Perfect! :drunk:

    Funny, I had similar OG problems and there's a thread about them. Might be of some interest.

    Yep it was a partial boil. Probably had at most 4 gallons of water in the pot but boiled down to around 3. That combined with the uneven distribution sounds like a very plausible theory. Thanks everybody!
