The local refrigeration place has a Brand new evaporator that I was going to buy as a spare for $200. They have it because a contractor ordered the wrong size unit. I'm sure other parts houses in other areas of the country may have similar deals. i have no idea what the install cost is...

have you guys ever thought about just getting a walk in cooler evaporator and condensing unit? I got a matching pair off of ebay for my restaurant walk in cooler for $250 +$125 shipping. Don't see why you guys couldn't do the same, AND then have a super efficient and COLD unit at your house.

and homercidal is right. if the compressor has a differential switch which most do, then that will attribute to compressor cycling as well.. I mean if the thermostat temp setting is 33 degrees and the fridge didnt have a differential switch, then it would run ridiculously on off on off on off...

a gallon of water will have less temperature fluctuation than air. Fridge cycling can be contributed to air leaks, bad insulation, bad placement of the probe, etc. Most compressors need a minimum of 2 minutes continuous run time in order to saturate bearings, warm surfaces and equalize pressures.

I got a chiller from an old copelands restaurant that closed down for $75. just needed a new compressor and good cleaning. Look around in your area for closed restaurants or bars.

So I take it that NO ONE in this entire forum knows anything about glycol chillers..

also, oxiclean is not a sanitizer
