I hate to bring such an old topic back from the dead...did you ever find the recipe? Jingle Ale is - was - one of my all-time favorite beers. I have found a good clone of OSB's Stock Ale, but I would love to find a Jingle Ale clone.
I really like Homebrew Formulator. I've been using it since I went all-grain about 2 years ago. It's a really nice balance of user friendly and what I'll call "tweaky." I've tried demos of Beer Tools Pro and Beer Smith; I'm sure they're great but I felt like Homebrew Formulator was a lot easier...
I would have thought so, but the way the email is worded...here's what it said:
>>We are brewing this season¹ first two batches of Bifrost Winter Ale next
week. Look for a first of November release.
"This season"??
It's over 6% and VERY smooth so I can't imagine it being ready that...
I just got an email from Elysian Brewing Co. here in the Seattle area...one of the things they mentioned was that they would be brewing their holiday ale (BiFrost - very good) this week...and that it would be released in the first week of November. That's barely a month for brewing, fermenting...
Per the BCJP exam study guide, you add any of the following to 12 oz. of a clean lager:
sour / acidic: lactic acid (1/3 tsp. of a solution consisting of 1/8 tsp. lactic acid and 3/8 tsp. distilled water)
sour / acidic: white wine vinegar (3/4 tsp.)
bitterness: iso-hop extract (1 to 2...
I think he's saying that he HAD to add the 3 lbs. of DME to hit his target because he was so far off.
I'm going to say it's the crush. I'd mill at your LHBS rather than rocking out with a rolling pin.
I was looking for a good winter warmer myself. I found this one over at breworganic.com (actually quite a few cool recipes there for the taking)...I made a change to the yeast and upped the grist from 9.5# to 12# to make it a bit higher octane, and my local LHBS claimed that Hallertaur Tradition...
I implore you - go with the 10 gallon!
I've been brewing AG for about 6 months now, after 3 or so years of extract and partial mash brewing. I went with a 5 gallon setup, reasoning that I only brew 5 gallon batches, so why would I ever need anything larger? The problem is that you're limited as...
I appreciate it - I had no idea that there was a difference. I found some "low-profile" pin lock disconnects on eBay and I've got an email into the guy to find out just how long they are.
Something tells me though that I'll be hunting down 3 gallon Cornys.
Still, the Kegerator was free so...
Does such a thing exist?
I inherited a very cool "vintage" Kelvinator kegerator last night. I can just squeeze Corny kegs inside - 3+ a gas bottle, actually - but they're pretty height restricted...got about 1/4" over the top once I slide them in. There's no way the standard quick disconnects...
I've seen the Morimoto Imperial Pilsner around; they have a newer Imperial Younger's Special Bitter in one; they did an Imperial YSB in one a little while back; they at various times have done their Hazelnut Brown and Shakespeare Porter in one of these...and I've got one that they did for Rogue...
Hey kids,
I'm a newbie but I've been lurking for awhile and brewing for a couple of years. I switched to all-grain a few months ago and have made some good beers.
However...I want to make GREAT beers, with relatively reproducible results. One issue I keep having is over- or under-shooting...
