    LP Fire Manual RIMS

I would essentially be turning my brew kettle into my mash tun. Your experience really gave me some things to consider. Yambor, what kind of burner are you using? I was hoping that I could keep the burner on all the time and just reduce the flame to maintain the temp. It sounds like this is...

    LP Fire Manual RIMS

I was just over simplifying. I have a valve at the bottom of the brew kettle for liquid out. I would install another valve at the top of the kettle for liquid in and use the pump to go from bottom to top. I would throw a false bottom to keep the grain off the actual bottom of the kettle and...

    LP Fire Manual RIMS

So I was thinking of how to complicate my life a little more and this is what I came up with. Right now my buddy and I do 10 gallon batches with a 15 gallon pot. We heat water for the mash with an LP burner and mash in a giant cooler. After an hour mash (usually) we drain runnings through a CPVC...

    Regulators - Thanks Warren G

I noticed some small Husky In-Line Regulators at Home Depot (or 125 PSI Air Flow Regulator with Gauge) today and was thinking that these could be used in conjunction with those cheap-o Harbor Freight manifolds and maybe some valves (maybe not). What are the thoughts on using those small...

    Kettle suggestions

I bought an 15 gallon aluminum pot from Sam's Club online ($43). There are a couple stainless steel pots (15 and 20 gallons) on eBay for about $100 and $125 shipped, respectively. http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/product.jsp?productId=102996&navAction=...

    Spicy Christmas

So I'm thinking of brewing a Christmas ale with some spices. I've pulled a recipe and below are the spices I'm planning on using for a 5 gallon batch: 125 mL of Molasses 1 tsp of Cardamom 1 tsp of Cinnamon 1 tsp of Ginger 1 tsp of Orange Peel My main question is when do I add...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Going to try my first all-grain. Midwestsupplies kit: Hop Head Double IPA. Maybe some foosball at the same time. Sh*t's gonna get crazy.

    Recipe Kit Help

I have done a couple extra brew batches with my friends but we woud like to move to all-grain brewing. For this first batch we are going to do everything by hand with extract brew equipment. With regard to answering the question, just assume I have one pot/fermenter/piece-of-equipment that is...

    SSRs are for Chumps

Wow. That's an impressive set up. I like your idea and had considered two separate compartments/panels for all the electrical. I'm going to go a little off my topic: why do you have contactors and SSRs in series on your heaters? Wouldn't two SPST (or one DPST) SSRs alone work?

    SSRs are for Chumps

Thanks for the feedback. That's what I was afraid of. Are there any other solutions available, something I haven't mentioned? Or is there an SSR that has a smaller footprint? Also, back to the power relays: what about for the pumps? Once they start pumping, they stay on until their process is...

    SSRs are for Chumps

So I'm not real thrilled with the prospect of installing a bunch of SSRs with huge heat sinks in an already small electrical box. The alternative I have found is a Miniature Power Relay. Here is a link. The main disadvantage I can see is that because it is not a solid state unit, the number...
