Everyone,
I am working on putting together a single tier brew rig. I have three kettles and one pump so far. I would like to avoid buying another pump if possible.
Please give me your honest input on the attached design. I just know I am missing something. Probably the logic of the pumping...
Hey,
I friend of mine sent me this issue.
"I'm a pure extract brewer at this time. I feel that I have been highly successful (tasty end product) with the Brewers Best and Northern Brewer kits. However, I'm puzzled that I cannot seem to achieve the specified OG values. I just brewed a BB...
Hey,
I have an ESB recipe that calls for Safale US-04.
Any idea what a substitute might be?
I have several dry yeasts at the house and was hoping I could substitute.
In house:
Safale US-05
Danstar Nottingham
Muntons
Coopers(1pkg)
Danstar Munich
Safbrew T-58
I was thinking maybe...
OK, so I've always had pretty good luck producing clear brews.
However, this time I have a Nut Brown that just won't clear up. Even crash cooling didn't help much.
Since the brew store is like 100 miles away I was wondering if I can use unflavored geletin from the store. Pectin I believe its...
OK, thanks everyone.
I kinda thought roasting all the grains might not be the best idea.
Didn't know the technicals of why roasting would hurt but now I know.
Thanks,
Cheers!
Actually, I took several readings cause I just couldn't believe it. I also use a refractometer to check the brix which also showed a crazy low OG.
On like the third day of fermentation I saw zero activity so I figured something was wrong with my starter for some reason so I added some...
Gents,
I did a Nut Brown the other day where I roasted the grains to get a nuttier flavor added.
Got my first stuck sparge but also ended up with a really crappy OG like 1.020.
Here's the recipe:
6 gallon batch.
Amount Item Type % or IBU
10.00 lb Pale Malt, Maris Otter (3.0 SRM) Grain 72.73 %...
Hey,
Anyone know where I can get bulk grains at a reasonable price in the Southest? You know, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, etc...
Say 500-2000#'s at a time?
$50-70 for a 55# bag just isn't going to cut it.
Thanks,
Tim
OK, so I'm tired of the immersion chiller and the time it takes to chill my brews. While I am only doing 5 gallon batches I still would like to reduce the cool time and will likely be doing 10 gallon batches in the future.
So, I am wondering if it is really worth $100 more for the Terminator...
Can someone recommend a digital pH meter.
The paper just isn't working out well.
I was hoping I could find a good one in the $30-40 range but not sure about which ones are good and/or what to look for.
