Hop filtration, options other than spiders for larger batches?

Yes, 1 year no questions asked. Am am waiting to see which one i should get for the 30 gal - their size goes up to 30 and 30 plus... I am thinking larger is better if it will fit for more filtration and flow. So much crud came out of that chiller yesterday, I am confident it was sanitary...

Gotcha, yes, typo, I have the blocker, and you are right, not great. The stopper is 10%off now too for black friday...

Hop filtration, options other than spiders for larger batches?

Saw those @Ki-ri-n, not a bad option, I think those would be a bugger to clean, but might work. I'd like to find something like this that's bigger - its on alibaba, for reference, thats a 1.5" sanitary: or one of these, but I cant determine if they take a stainless filter...

Hop filtration, options other than spiders for larger batches?

Anyone tried something along the lines of a house filter like this, And used something like a 100 micron filter like this: I'd have to get a SS or high temp housing (most of the household ones I've seen are only rated to 140F, but the pump could draw down almost to the bottom for minimal...

Hop filtration, options other than spiders for larger batches?

Thanks @rhys333, I am not worried about trub in the fermentor actually - I have a 27 gallon one with a sharp v, so that's all good. I need a hot side filter before the heat exchanger to keep it from clogging. Options could be adapting a home water filter or maybe a blichmann hop rocket or...

Hop filtration, options other than spiders for larger batches?

So I had the worst brew day ever on Sunday, supply hose froze and cracked, sparge system clogged, number one chugger pump blew up, heat exchanger completely clogged, batch was saved (i hope) after 24hours of passive cooling in my fermenter. Anyway, my question is around hop management. For...

Saving yeast at the starter stage (?)

So I don't like rinsing and washing yeast, I worry too much about sanitation and ruining batches of beer (I brew 20 gallons at a time, so there is cost and time). I already make starters, so it occurred to me that if I make a big starter for a brew day, why not pour off some into a second flask...

Motorized Grain Mills: Time to show them off!

Run of the mill crusher... :) Just wanted a skinny wheeled structure to save on storage that can comfortably get through 45lb+ grain bills.

Going From Collar-Mounted Taps to a Draft Tower on a Keezer

I do have some moisture gathering periodically - I haven't gotten around to caulking the freezer to top connection and have yet to put on the foam tape around the opening - so its not so bad that I've gotten off my butt to fix it...

Tippy Dumpy Variation plus cedar wrapped mash tun

Thought I would post an update on the tippy dump design after running about 10 batches through. The pros are that once tipped, it limits the outboard weight and keeps the stand pretty stable - although I have to let it down easy, with my pneumatic tires I sometimes feel like it would go over...

    Finally finished my New Mill

That's a nice clean build with great pictures and all... but I love the fact that you put it together in your living room - gone are they days in my house where that might have been tolerated..

Show us your sculpture or brew rig

That is one of the more remarkable combinations of art and function I have seen in a while - very nicely done!
